The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is the national governing body of tennis in the United States. The Eastern section of the USTA is located in White Plains, NY. We facilitate tennis programming throughout New York, Northeastern New Jersey and Southern Connecticut. Our mission is to promote and develop the growth of tennis.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
General office assistant primarily assisting the Managing Directors of Community Tennis Development and Competitive Tennis (including the Manager of Leagues); perform the responsibilities of the receptionist and assist the Office Manager as needed.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Assist with the preparation of tennis events.
- Create and maintain databases.
- Assist with feedback system for member organization visits.
- Coordinate the distribution of information for grants and scholarships.
- Provide coverage of the reception desk including phone calls during normal business hours. Answer and direct phone calls to the proper person and return messages in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
- Assist with tracking supply needs and the maintenance of the kitchen, conference and copy rooms.
- Become proficient in the use of the copier and postage machines. Act as back-up to the office manager in maintaining the office equipment including placing service calls and maintaining overall office environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors of Science or Arts degree is required in the area of Business or Sports Management.
- A minimum of two years work experience required.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written required.
- Microsoft Office experience required. Excellent Access Database skills, Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.
- Multitasking abilities and excellent communications skills are required.
