Youth Tennis Instructor
Recreational Facility in Hyde Park, MA is looking for a Youth Tennis Instructor.

Position Overview:
Facility is searching for a youth tennis instructor to lead groups of youth ages 3+ instructing tennis classes. Classes are on weekday evenings and weekends. Candidate must possess excellent child/parent communication skills, expertise in tennis and the ability to work independently.

This position assists in development, organization and implementation of the following Facility programs: preschool, youth, teen, and adult sports & recreation enrichment classes; ensuring a quality experience with health and safety as a priority. This position is primarily responsible for representing the Facility personally and in a professional manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the Facility . This position reports to the Teen & Youth Sports Director.

Essential functions:
Directs and supervises program activities to meet Facility objectives with strong focus on achievement, relationships and belonging. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
Recruits, trains, and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Develops strategies to achieve goals.
Works with Teen & Youth Sports Director to ensure proper maintenance of gymnasium, court and all related equipment.
Works with Teen & Youth Sports Director and community members to expand our Youth Development Initiative.
Markets and distributes program information to Facility members and the community in order to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
Develops, coordinates and implements innovative programming for ages beginning at 3+.
To be seen as a leader for our Y by engaging with families, children and other Y employees. Direct service with delivery of classes is an essential function.
Monitors program budget with Teen & Youth Sports Director to meet fiscal objectives/goals.
Assists in Facility fund raising activities and special events.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
Assists with program committee meetings where appropriate.
Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program. Communicate program information, problems and concerns as they occur to appropriate supervisor.
Maintains required and voluntary training and certifications as directed by supervisor, in order to promote growth of spirit, mind and body; positive character values for all.
Participate in regular staff meetings.
Carry out other related responsibilities as assigned.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field or equivalent preferred.
One to two years of related experience preferred; for example, as a tennis coach or volunteer.
Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogens.

Skills and competencies/know how:
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills in order to facilitate positive relationships with parents, staff, children, and outside agencies.
Have a concern for detail, accuracy, and consistency.

Qualities needed for this position:
Energetic, motivated and well organized individual who has a passion for youth development and sports.
• One year experience and knowledge in the sport of tennis • Intermediate knowledge in following tennis e.g. rules, lining, dimensions, etc. • Experience working with diverse populations in urban setting • Possess positive leadership skills, relationship building skills, and the ability to be a positive adult role model • Live, work, and perform work duties in the manner consistent with such responsibilities• Have an understanding of Facility philosophy

Compensation:
$11.00-$15.00 / Hour – part-time.
