Tennis Center Events Manager
Tennis Center in Auburn, AL is looking for a full-time Tennis Center Events Manager. Up to $4,585.46 per month.

Position Overview:
MAJOR DUTIES
Directs Tennis Center events and tournaments. (50%)
Plans, organizes, staffs and directs all events at the Tennis Center.
Acts as liaison between Center and various external organizations.
Researches, bids, schedules, promotes, obtains sponsors for, and directs tournaments.
Develops policies and procedures for the efficient implementation of Center events and tournaments.
Maintains event and tournament calendar.
Secures tournament sponsors.
Performs event and tournament promotional activities. (15%)
Reviews and approves brochures..
Prepares fliers for events, tournaments, and clinics.
Prepares press releases.
Provides interviews with local media.
Visits local schools to promote programming.
Develops and monitors budgets. (10%)
Develops event and tournament budgets.
Develops Tennis Center budget requests for events and manages approved funds.
Controls expenditures.
Coordinates with vendors to receive best prices on supplies and equipment.
Orders equipment and supplies as needed.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned personnel. (15%)
Interviews, selects, and trains assigned personnel.
Assigns, motivates, appraises, and directs the work of assigned personnel.
Recommends discipline and terminations of assigned personnel.
Reviews work and counsels and coaches subordinates as appropriate.
Oversees safety for assigned personnel, facilities, and equipment.
Coordinates schedules of assigned personnel.
Reviews and approves timesheets.
Performs related duties. (10%)
Attends meetings, workshops and training sessions.
Demonstrates punctual, regular and reliable attendance.
Provides innovative solutions to enhance current processes and procedures and/or resolve workplace issues.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of tennis facility management procedures.
Knowledge of tennis court maintenance procedures.
Knowledge of City budgeting and purchasing processes.
Knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
Knowledge of safety requirements.
Knowledge of City and department rules and guidelines.
Skill in the use of modern office equipment.
Skill in organizing and planning work.
Skill in performing mathematical calculations.
Skill in decision making and problem solving.
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the supervision of personnel.
Ability to plan and develop programs and activities.
Ability to work cooperatively with others.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Director of Parks and Recreation assigns work in terms of very general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.

GUIDELINES
Guidelines include risk management and safety guidelines, tennis rules and association guidelines, City and department policies and procedures and City of Auburn Core Values, Vision and Mission Statements. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of varied administrative, supervisory and program management duties. The variety of tasks to be performed contributes to the complexity of the position.
The purpose of this position is to manage Tennis Center events. Success in this position contributes to the provision of positive programming for the community.

CONTACTS
Contacts are typically with co-workers, vendors, volunteers, program participants, school personnel, media representatives, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, motivate personnel, and provide services.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light objects weighing less than 24 pounds and heavy objects weighing 24 pounds or more. The employee climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
The work is typically performed in an office and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
This position has direct supervision over temporary and seasonal personnel, interns and volunteers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field: and
1 to 3 years of related experience; or
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
