Tennis Faculty
Tennis School in Honolulu, HI is looking for full-time Tennis Faculty staff to assist in all aspects of tennis programs, services, and operations.

Position Overview:
School’s mission includes providing an environment where students can develop intellectual and physical potential to the fullest degree. The Tennis School serves students of all skill levels in grades K-12 and is committed to providing an atmosphere conducive to learning the game of tennis while maximizing the potential for all students though various development programs. Students K-12 are exposed to tennis through curricular PE classes offered during the regular school day; after-school and summer course offerings; USTA Jr. Team Tennis league play; and interscholastic Intermediate/JV/Varsity team opportunities (grades 7-12).

The Tennis Faculty will serve as an integral member of the Tennis School and will assist in all aspects of School’s tennis programs, services, and operations. The ideal candidate will actively plan, coordinate, administer, and perform tennis programming and services inclusive of teaching private and group lessons, coaching our Jr. Team Tennis teams and coordinating our Jr. Team Tennis schedule, teaching PE classes, and supervising during FOPT hours. Tennis Faculty will also assist with the coordination of special events, programs, and tournaments as needed. The ideal candidate will create a positive and supportive learning environment, and will be flexible and open-minded with respect to learning styles. They will contribute to a learning culture among colleagues that models collaboration, continuous learning, reflective practice, peer support, and the ability to adopt an educational approach to teaching tennis in alignment with the Aims of a School’s Education. The Tennis Faculty position will also play a key role in creating an environment that promotes the game of tennis as an educational tool and lifelong sport for all ages.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Effectively organizes, coordinates, and instructs the After School program, Summer School program, Jr. Team Tennis, PE, Tennis Camps, and other tennis activities as assigned by the Director.
Provides quality, competent, dynamic, and safe, private and group tennis instruction to students of all ages and skill levels (introductory through competitive)
Handles all aspects of lesson preparation including planning, organizing, creating, evaluating, and executing a developmentally appropriate lesson plan.
Works collaboratively with other faculty, coaches, and tennis professionals to ensure program offerings, coaching and instruction are developmentally appropriate and aligned with the aims of the school.
Effectively serves in a leadership role for programs to which s/he is assigned.
Adjusts and adapts teaching methods and techniques based on an objective assessment of students’ abilities.
Comfortable working with large groups of students at varying skill levels.
Assesses and communicates program effectiveness, student engagement, and performance, and participates in the selection process for invitational programs or other events.
Keeps abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to tennis in education.
Utilizes the latest technology to enhance the learning experience for each level of the tennis program and to communicate effectively with constituents.
Leads and assists in the preparation of training programs for and with tennis staff to improve teaching and coaching methods.
Ensures safety and orderliness of facilities, equipment and people.
Attends to the health and safety of students and others.
Flexibility to serve as back-up to cover for absences and/or provides assistance during peak work-times.
Ensures K-3 graders are escorted safely from the designated pickup area to the tennis area, are properly behaved, and are picked up after their lesson by authorized personnel.
May serve as chaperone for off-island travel.
Effectively organizes and coordinates the After School program, Summer School program, Jr. Team Tennis, PE, FOPT, Tennis Camps, and other tennis activities as assigned by the Director.
Effectively balances multiple activities and deadlines while remaining focused on execution of day-to-day responsibilities.
Provides regular office coverage, including providing timely and accurate information to telephone and walk-in clients.
Provides routine reports necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the Tennis School.
Ensures that necessary and appropriate paper work is completed in an accurate, neat, and timely manner.
Attends and contributes to regular staff meetings.
Initiates and assists in regular facility maintenance and upkeep with the Assistant Director.
Demonstrates initiative and leadership while assisting in all aspects of logistics management, including setup, breakdown, and cleanup of relevant facilities.
Provides routine reports and recommendations for the proper maintenance and care of the tennis facility.

Position Details:
Department: Tennis
Status: Full Time Regular
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Year: 12 months
Work Hours: Monday – Saturday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Schedule will vary based on Tennis activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and/or equivalent combination of education or experience.
Five (5) years of related tennis industry experience.
Three (3) years of experience working with youth.
Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of tennis playing and instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction and of the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of students. Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods.
Demonstrates high proficient level of tennis playing ability to teach/coach varying skill levels of players K-12 (Recommended minimum of NTRP 4.5 rating and/or UTR 8)
Must have a Professional USPTA Certification or industry equivalent (and maintain that certification).
Current CPR AED certification.
