Director of Tennis
Club in Columbia, MO is looking for a full-time Director of Tennis.

Position Overview:
Club is currently seeking a Director of Tennis for our brand new racquet facility that is currently under construction. Our facility, with a tentative opening scheduled for mid-July, will have (4) hard court tennis courts, (4) hard court pickleball courts, a covered outdoor space and a 600 square foot tennis shop. The Club is a privately-owned country club located in Columbia, Missouri. The club opened in 2007 and the golf course is one of the top-ranked facilities in the state. In addition to our 18-hole championship golf course, we have a 22 acre practice facility that is ranked in the top 50 private practice facilities in the US by the GRAA for the last six years. We also have a full service fitness center with a swimming pool. Our clubhouse has a mixed bar and grill, large patio area, full service locker rooms and a full service golf shop. We host a full schedule of golf, social and dining events throughout the year for our members and guests. We currently have 785 active members in all membership categories with approximately 350 families having access to our racquet facilities.

Essential Duties:
• Create and foster relationships with members of all ages.
• Enthusiastically encourage tennis participation by planning events and leagues to promote the sport and fellowship at the club.
• Ensures that all members and guests receive prompt, courteous and professional customer service.
• Plans and directs instructional programs for all ages and skill levels.
• Be a visible presence that is accessible to members, guests and employees.
• Creates, administers and enforces club policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
• Hire, train and supervise all tennis department personnel.
• Maintain a creative and reputable tennis shop staffed with engaging, skilled personnel and quality merchandise and services.
• Strings rackets and performs other light equipment repairs.
• Writes all tennis-related news for the club’s monthly newsletter.
• Market the tennis facilities, services, programming, events and products to members and guests.
• Devote a reasonable number of hours to playing tennis with members for their enjoyment.
• Ensures that all areas of the tennis facility are neat and clean at all times.
• Coordinates all maintenance, repair and cleaning of the courts and surrounding areas.
• Attend all scheduled department head meetings.
• Works with the Food & Beverage department to ensure proper stocking of beverages/snacks in tennis shop.
• Works with the Food & Beverage department to coordinate any necessary needs for events/leagues.
• Participates in professional tennis activities to include: competitive tournaments, pro-ams with members, rules official positions, continuing education, etc.
• Works with the General Manager to develop the tennis budget for the calendar year and takes corrective action to make sure that all goals are met.
• Ensures accuracy of all charges for member purchases.
• Maintains an organized and attractive tennis shop with an accurate inventory of supplies and merchandise.
• Maintains accurate records on play, lessons and clinics; provides written reports on a monthly basis.
• Works with other club departments to ensure positive teamwork so that club goals can be attained.
• Stays current on new trends and takes advantage of those that would benefit our member’s experience at the club.
• All other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

Necessary Qualifications:
• High School diploma or equivalent. College preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a tennis professional is preferred.
• Proficient in computer skills to include Microsoft Office programs, E-mail and the Internet.
• Ability to follow company policy/procedures, complying with all governmental and administrative responsibilities.

Working Conditions:
• Will be required to work nights, weekends and holidays.
• Have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Have the stamina to stand on your feet for lengthy periods of time.
• Lift, reach, bend, twist, push, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.
