Head Coach – Men’s Tennis
University in Boston, MA is looking for a full-time Head Coach – Men’s Tennis.

Position Overview:
With an eye towards leading a championship caliber program, and with a commitment to student-athlete success both on the tennis court and in the classroom, you will direct and manage all aspects of a Division I men’s intercollegiate tennis program. The successful candidate will understand and embrace the academic mission of College and the role that athletics plays to support it.

By using intercollegiate competition and all activities related to such competition, this position serves as a teacher and mentor to help build student character, prepare students for a constructive and effective life, and teach valuable life lessons including work ethic; discipline; resilience; persistence; teamwork and selflessness; goal-setting and goal achievement; overcoming adversity; and leadership. You will coach and develop student athletes; plan and direct the overall training strategy for the program; establish practice, training and competition schedules; oversee strength and conditioning of the athletes; develop and implement a student-athlete recruiting strategy; spearhead fundraising efforts and alumni engagement; and supervise Assistant Coaches.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required. At least 6 (six) seasons of experience coaching or playing tennis at the collegiate level. Coaching or playing tennis at the professional level may count towards this requirement.

Additional Qualifications
Must have outstanding technical, tactical and strategic knowledge of tennis, including a proven ability to build strong tennis teams.

Experience as a Head Tennis Coach at the college level preferred, particularly at the Division I level. Strong leadership, interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to work with and relate well to a diverse group of athletes, administrators, and University constituents. Must be able to establish yourself as a respected and credible coach to students, faculty, alumni, media representatives, and the broader University community.

Must be administratively self-sufficient and be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and web applications. Should have basic video filming, editing and analytical ability.

The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of success. S/he should also have strong organizational skills and an ability to work independently. Must be able to respect and comply with guidelines set forth by University, the Ivy League, and the NCAA. Valid drivers’ license required.

A DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) check is required because you will be driving student-athletes during out-of-town travel.

Ability and willingness to work in extreme weather conditions (heat, wind, and cold).
