Director of Tennis & Racket Sports
Club in Scottsdale, AZ is looking for a full-time Director of Tennis & Racket Sports.

Position Overview:
Provides a high quality of service to the membership through expertise both on and off the tennis court. Ensures that the needs of the membership are met by having well planned and well-run events, by providing information, merchandise and service that exceeds their demands. Assists in all facets of the tennis program and in any way that best serves the membership and employees at Desert Mountain.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
On Court:
1. Develops and coordinates all tennis and pickleball programs including junior lessons and events; men’s and women’s events and clinics, couples events, instructional programs for all levels.
2. Assists in new member orientation and include a complimentary ability assessment lesson.
3. Devotes a reasonable number of hours to playing tennis with members regardless of their tennis excellence.
4. Develops and coordinates all Men’s & Women’s Open Play, mixed events, and fun and unique tennis and pickleball socials.
5. Develops and coordinates all Men’s & Women’s League Play.
6. Oversees in the planning and facilitating of all tennis and pickleball events at Desert Mountain.
7. Performs both private and group lessons upon request.
8. Assists in teaching clinics for women, men and juniors.
9. Assists with junior tennis camp lessons throughout the year.
10. Aids in the coaching process by analyzing play in practice, matches, and leagues.
11. Enhances teaching and instruction through the use of video and other teaching aids.
12. Maintains a current USPTA certification and continue to achieve higher levels.
13. Maintains current and up to date knowledge in teaching methods and styles.
14. Maintains current knowledge of racquets, balls and courts, including construction and materials.
Off Court:
1. Organizes and develops tennis and pickleball flyers and posters to market events with our communications team.
2. Coordinates all activities relating to leagues and other league play.
3. Assists with writing Nagonie articles that pertain to tennis and racket sports.
4. Promotes events, clinics, leagues and activities by phone calls and emails to members.
5. Introduces new events into the tennis program that provide a greater opportunity for members to participate and enjoy the game.
6. Assists with maintaining teaching baskets and Ball Machine.
7. Assists with racquet special orders.
8. Assists other employees in the tennis and racket department and Club departments as needed.
9. Responsible for setting and maintaining standard operation procedures by company policy such as; schedules, fair employment treatment, employee uniforms and clubhouse standards as prescribed in the Desert Mountain standard operation policies and procedures. Conducts employee performance appraisals as required; promote, commend, transfer, discipline and recommend termination of direct report employees within the Club.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Clubhouse.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS OR EQUIVALENT:
Prefer 4-year College degree. CPR AND First aid certification required.

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:
USPTA/USPTR P1 Certified, Resort Club background, accredited tennis professional. Customer and people skills. Must have comprehensive computer skills including Microsoft Office products.

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 10 years in tennis industry. Associated with world-recognized tennis/fitness facility for a minimum of 10 years. Management skills, retail background and financial acumen.

WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON THE JOB:
Computer training, Continuing Education courses, relevant industry meetings; IRSSA, USPTA, USTA Club Industry. Desert Mountain policies and procedures, and Desert Mountain Members and Membership Program.

UNUSUAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
Medium to heavy lifting at least 35 lbs. Physically fit, on feet for long periods of time. Subject to weather conditions
