Tennis Director
Country Club in Boise, ID is looking for a full-time Tennis Director.

Position Overview:
Reports to: General Manager
Work Performed:
1. Supervise all tennis play, as directed by the General Manager.
2. Supervise charging of lessons, clinics, pro shop sales, guest fees, etc.
3. Supervise the rental of club equipment, ball machines, racquets, etc.
4. Provide competent instruction to members of all abilities.
5. Supervise other assistants (teaching help), shop personnel and maintenance staff in the performance of their duties.
6. Enforce all club rules and policies as directed by the tennis committee and General Manager.
7. Devote a reasonable number of hours to being in the pro shop, attending to members needs, answering calls, attending special events, running programs, performing paper work, etc..
8. Encourage tennis participation by planning events to promote the sport and fellowship of the club.
9. Represent the club in a professional manner at meetings, events, inter-clubs, around town and outside of Cedar Rapids.

Specific Duties:

1) Tournaments:
a. Plan and run club tournaments to accommodate all levels of play.
b. Promote tournaments and events to members via signage, phone calls, emails, etc.
c. Help to ensure facilities are ready for each event and all maintenance has been performed.
d. Secure draw sheets, score cards and other such items needed to run a tournament.
e. Help coordinate food and other amenities that might go along with each event.
f. Be available during the event to help with running the event smoothly, monitoring play and making rules decisions.
g. Help prepare post-event comments and review for tennis committee.

2) Programs:
a. Help ensure programs are in place at the club to service the entire membership (juniors, adults, seniors, etc.).
b. Organize special events at the club in an effort to attract and retain members’ tennis interests.
c. Provide beginner through advanced instruction to enhance broad based member participation.
d. Help in the preparation of the annual calendar for tennis activities at the club.
e. Plan, organize and run our major tennis events.
f. Prepare the annual budget for the responsible operation of the tennis facilities.
g. Spend adequate time creating new and exciting programs to keep things fresh (Cardio tennis, stroke of the week, World Team Tennis night, etc.)
h. Promote all programs to club members (word of mouth, email, phone calls, signs, etc) so as to constantly grow the program.
i. Attend all special events, inter-clubs, tournaments, mixers, etc.

3) Maintenance:
a. Inspect the facilities on a daily basis prior to the start of the day and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed.
b. Keep the tennis committee and/or General Manager informed of any maintenance needs and equipment that may be needed to perform such maintenance.
c. Help to maintain all areas of the club/facilities and pro shop are neat and clean at all times.

4) Tennis Pro Shop Operations:
a. Keep pro shop neat and clean at all times.
b. Help create and monitor a proper work schedule for staff that maintains hours of operation of the pro shop agreed upon by management and tennis committee.
c. Help monitor the billing procedures to ensure a smooth billing process for the pro shop, guest fees and rental items.
d. Provide proper instruction to pro shop staff (especially new employees) as to present a professional sales staff to the members.
e. Help train the staff to be able to answer member questions immediately and professionally, or be able to know how to quickly get the answer to any question. All of the duties listed above, both general and specific, are expected of a Tennis Director. USPTA and/or USPTR certification is a must, preferably a Professional or P1 rating. Along with the above duties, the General Manager or tennis committee may require additional (new) duties at any time.
