Tennis and Life Camps Assistant Director
College in Saint Peter, MN is looking for a full-time Tennis and Life Camps Assistant Director.

Position Overview:
College invites applications for an 11 month Tennis and Life Camps Assistant Director, Tennis with the Tennis and Life Camps.
College is a private liberal arts college in Saint Peter, Minn., that prepares over 2,200 undergraduates for lives of leadership, service, and lifelong learning. Fully accredited and known for its strong science, writing, music, athletics, study-away, and service-learning programs, College hosts a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa and is internationally recognized for its annual Nobel Conference.
This exciting opportunity is a position to create a comprehensive, year-round tennis teaching program that meets the increased needs of TLC staff training immediately after hiring, during the summer, and during the year, given the changing business model, demographics and needs of instructors. It is also to provide a more welcoming and inclusive experience to all campers, given TLC’s increased inclusion initiatives. The job involves education, recruitment, hiring, and coordination of staff throughout the year based on TLC’s expanding and diverse camper and staff base. Finally, it involves creating a comprehensive Three Crowns™ training with the TLC Director and other consultants and implementing it.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Summer:
• Train TLC staff in tennis and pedagogical curriculum in training camp and throughout the summer via professional development sessions.
• Oversee tennis portions of weekly staff and supervisory staff meetings.
• Oversee evaluation of tennis teaching staff, including on-court lesson evaluation and mid-summer evaluations.
• Train and develop TLC supervisory staff throughout summer.
• Supervise TLC Staff Drug and Alcohol Policy.
• Oversee and manage the delivery/presentation of the TLC tennis program to campers including: outdoor lessons, indoor lessons, station drills, stroke clinics and demonstrations, exhibition matches, strategy presentations, sportsmanship and mental training sessions, and tournaments and competitions.
• Assist with other duties as determined/assigned.
Year-Round:
• (Vision: enhance the culture of excellence in the tennis and teaching portions of the TLC program and staff/camper experience).
• Continual oversight, evaluation, and development of the TLC tennis curriculum.
• Update and manage the TLC training manual / drill packet.
• Recruit and hire tennis teaching staff with Director.
• Develop/implement a tennis playing assessment system for applicants.
• Develop and implement training materials for hired first-year incoming staff members, including but not limited to: print materials, instructional videos, feedback on videos of them practice feeding and teaching, and on-line check point modules on techniques, strategy, and pedagogy that they would need to pass prior to arriving for summer duty.
• Further development and overall implementation of the TLC mid-summer evaluation process.
• Communication with individual supervisory staff members and the supervisory staff as a whole throughout the year to develop greater chemistry and cohesion, reflect on feedback from previous summer, assign job duties and responsibilities, and prepare supervisors for the upcoming summer.
• Assess and address camper and staff feedback from the previous summer and explore/deliver/implement appropriate updates and responses.
• Communicate with current staff members on a regular basis with teaching enhancement ideas and materials.
• Attend and present at tennis and other conferences/events throughout the year as needed.
• Ongoing research and study of techniques and tactics in the tennis teaching industry for the continual updating/maintenance of the TLC tennis program.
• Research and development of the proposed Three Crowns/TLC Curriculum in conjunction with Director.
• Recruit TLC campers to College along with TLC Director and Operations Manager.
• Meet regularly/as needed with the Director.
• Be involved in TLC’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives with hiring and training.
• Develop and administer TLC’s extensive camp scholarship program for summer and retreat camps, including organizing outreach to organizations and individuals; selecting and/or leading selection of awardees; tracking which donors the recipients will thank; and identifying and soliciting new populations who may benefit from scholarships.
• Attend and help lead all fall and winter retreat camps
• Assist with other duties as determined/assigned
Prerequisites
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous head or assistant coaching experience or teaching pro experience.
• Working understanding of TLC’s instructor training system.
• Commitment to TLC’s Three Crowns? philosophical training system.
• Strong commitment to nonprofit service.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Ability to work with wide range of ages and abilities.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to be a part of and lead Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training as part of the TLC year-round team.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree or higher.
• Current head or assistant college coaching experience.
• Experience with and demonstrable commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
• Experience with Tennis & Life Camps training system.
• Past experience as a Tennis & Life Camps supervisor .
• Curriculum writing experience.
• Certified training by USPTA or USPTR or commitment to work towards it.
