Racquet Sports Manager
Club in Osterville, MA is looking for a Racquet Sports Manager.

Position Overview:
Reports to: General Manager
Supervises: Pro shop staff, Assistant Professionals, Part-time on court staff Employment
Dates: Seasonal (May 15 – September 15)
FLSA Category: Salaried

Under the direction of the General Manager and with the assistance of the Head Tennis Professional and Tennis Committee, the Racquet Sports Manager (“RSM) administers the policies, procedures and programs of The Club relating to Tennis and Pickle Ball, with some guidance provided to the winter Paddle Tennis program. This position assists the Head Tennis Professional and they, together, supervise all Racquet Sports staff. The RSM is responsible for scheduling, budget accountability and membership involvement. The RSM must have a strong desire to present the Racquets facilities in the best possible light to members and guests, with a focus on member service. The RSM agrees to comply with the Club’s Employee Handbook and comply with all other Club policies, which may be amended, modified and/or terminated in the Club’s sole discretion. Capitalized terms used but not defined herein shall have the meanings given to them in the Club’s Employee Handbook.

The responsibilities for the RSM include but are not limited to:
Primary Responsibilities:
• A Passionate ambassador for the games of Tennis, Pickleball and Paddle tennis with the ability to transfer that passion to all Club members and racquets staff.
• Create a teaching philosophy and teaching method consistent with current industry techniques and in line with The Club’s values and traditions and implement that philosophy throughout the Racquets program.
• Enthusiastically encourage Member participation and build upon the “first class” tennis program of events for juniors, ladies and men including annual club championships, member-guest events and social events.
• Ensure online court reservation system is updated and available to book courts, lessons, clinics, and tournaments and is used to do daily billing for all member and guest charges.
• Provide private and group lessons to both adults and juniors. Assist the Head Tennis Professional to manage tennis clinics consistent with current industry trends.
• Manage the retail operation of the tennis shop and work in conjunction with the Club Accounting department to ensure proper billing of merchandise, lessons, clinics and tournaments.
• Work with AGM, Golf Pro and Chairs of the Junior Sports Award event to ensure the ordering of all trophies, gifts and engraving for all junior and adult tournaments (typically done in beginning of season).
• Participate in Junior Sports Award evening.
• In conjunction with the Clubs’ Facilities Manager and Grounds Superintendent, coordinate court maintenance and repairs.
• To help ensure the tennis facility is clean and neat at all times, trash receptacles are emptied and any safety hazards are immediately addressed. Safety issues must be reported to the Facilities Manager promptly in writing.
• Attend all Department Head and Tennis Committee meetings and organize weekly Tennis staff meetings. Attend weekly meetings with the Head Tennis Pro and GM.
• Provide updates for each tennis committee meeting including program highlights and a review of monthly financial operating statement.
• Scheduling of tennis staff: adjust schedules to adhere to budget vs peak member usage. Responsible for sending staff home when not busy and adding staff if needed
• Create articles for weekly emails to the membership and monthly club e-newsletter and for tennis news and tennis tournament updates. Delegate responsibilities to the Tennis Shop Staff to assist with communications.
• In conjunction with Head Tennis Professional and CFO, prepare annual budget for review and approval of GM and tennis committee. Work closely with the tennis committee on establishing a multi-year, forward looking plan to incorporate programs and facility updates as necessary.
• Work with club staff on communication strategies as relates to website, mobile app and any social media. Coordinate events in conjunction with other club activities to ensure minimal overlap.
• Assists the Catering Sales Manager to coordinate food/beverage service for tennis events
• Be familiar with and follow the club’s emergency procedures and be prepared to handle emergency situation if one arises.
• Represent the club in the highest standard possible both on and off property.
• Administer and enforce Club racquets policies and procedures regarding play on the courts emphasizing sportsmanship.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or Sports/Tennis Management/Business strongly preferred.
• 5 years of progressive supervisory roles in Racquet Sports management required.
• Excellent business and people management skills required, as well as holding staff accountable for their work duties, club financial goals, etc.
• Impeccable attention to detail with strong emphasis on needs of the Membership
• Experience working with a tennis-specific POS system and accountable for accurate daily billing on the system required.
• Experience in retail sales of sporting goods, running junior and adult tennis programs and court maintenance.
• Plays Top Level Tennis (required), Pickle Ball (preferred) and Paddle Tennis (preferred)
• Honest, respectful, dedicated, ethical, caring and have a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to interact daily with Membership
• Ability to relate to all ages and levels of tennis. Specialized Knowledge/Licenses Required/Preferred:
• Must have or be currently working on a USTA Pro1 Rating.
• United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR) certification preferred.
• Professional Platform Tennis Association (PPTA) certification preferred.

Physical Requirements:
• Physical conditioning and stamina to sustain a 20-25-hour teaching schedule along with administrative responsibilities.
• In season (Memorial Day – Labor Day), position requires 6-7 day work week of working 8+ hours per day. Must be able to work on your feet for extended hours of movement. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
