Tennis Director
Club in Naples, FL is looking for a full-time Tennis Director. Competitive benefits package includes medical, vision and dental insurance, 401(K) with company match and more.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a full-time year-round Director of Tennis. Competitive benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental insurance, 401(K) with company match and more. The Club has 13 Har-Tru tennis courts with one being a stadium court, 2 Pickle ball courts, a stand alone Pro Shop and offices, and Courtside Cafe food and beverage outlet. The Director of Tennis is a highly visible position requiring strong presence, leadership and communication skills with both members and Club management and staff.

Overall Responsibility: This position is responsible for the overall management of tennis staff, programs, services, facilities, tennis courts and public area maintenance. Lessons are not part of the position but are negotiable on a limited basis. The position reports to the Sports & Wellness Director and General Manager.

Summary:

An intuitive style resulting in a sincere and clearly engaged presence with Members, Guests, and Staff. This position is responsible for designing plans and implementing tennis programs to include special events and clinics with a major focus on planning the tennis program. The Director of Tennis’ time should be focused on the development, planning and supervision of the business while the remainder should be focused on managing. In accordance with the club, all team members work together sharing in a common goal of a successful and innovative club. Team members are to demonstrate integrity, fairness, and honesty. Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop and implement programs, projects and activities designed to increase the membership tennis experience. Represent the club in its vision and mission.
• Initiates, directs and promotes tennis clinics, special events and programs in an effort to attract and maintain members’ tennis interests
• Provides beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players
• Organizes and conducts competition and tournaments
• Enforces all club rules and regulations governing the use of the club/facility, its equipment and other property, when necessary.
• Works cooperatively with the other departments to develop combined programs for the membership
• Ability to use effective problem-solving skills, and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant, exhibits sound and accurate judgment and makes timely decisions
• Provides exceptional member service and uses prompt and responsive follow-through. Asks questions to identify member needs and/or expectations. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or comments.
• Able to work in a rapidly changing environment. Must be able to adapt to changes, manage competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
• Familiarity with private club operations and the regulatory and legal environments in which they conduct business is desirable
• Must be highly visible and have the ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the event schedule
• Supervises maintenance of tennis courts and equipment.
• Supervises and edits all tennis related news for the club
• Supervises and supports an accurate inventory control system of supplies and reports monthly.
• Perform annual and/or seasonal employee performance reviews.
• Maintain on court reservation system and scheduling of courts for programs and events including daily/monthly play.
• Hands on involvement in the annual budgeting process, work within budget guidelines, prepare variance reports as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Lead by example utilizing a “hands-on” approach to management
• Track record promoting an atmosphere of teamwork
• Experience communicating, training, and managing multi-lingual staffs
• Strong and creative problem-solving skills with the exceptional detail in follow-up
• Ensures proper inspection of the courts /facilities daily prior to the start of play and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed and the courts are in a safe working order
• Monitors and maximize court usage including special events, clinics, lessons and play
• Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Operates and maintain a reputable pro shop and courtside café, staffed with competent personnel and featuring quality merchandise and services
• Provide necessary coordination with the club accounting system to assure an accurate and timely billing operation
• Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Develops ongoing training programs.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, computer operation, & POS. Jonas preferred.
• General maintenance and operation of Har-Tru tennis courts. Including above and below ground watering systems.
• Willing to become AED/CPR certified, if not already.
• Successful completion of the company required drug test and background review.
• 5 years or more of work experience as Tennis Director/Head Tennis instructor, ideally in a Private Club membership environment
• Current USPTA/USPTR Card preferred
• Database experience, ideally with Club Essentials or other current reservations system.
• Strong management skill including planning, setting priorities, decision making, facilitating process improvement and is committed to continued personal and professional growth.
