Associate Tennis Professional
Tennis Facility in Surprise, Arizona is looking for an Associate Tennis Professional.

Position Overview:
Incumbents lead and instruct tennis lessons, supervise facilities or specific programs or activities, and are responsible for customer services, problem solving, and rule adjudication. Incumbents manage and maintain inventory, and may be assigned as cashier to receive checks or cash.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are intended only as general illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. • Assists in preparing and coordinating a wide variety of public events, classes and/or activities, which may include procuring supplies, scheduling entertainment, setting up sites, monitoring events, and/or performing other related activities.
• Behaves professionally and is a positive role model.
• Communicates problems and/or concerns regarding recreational facilities, activities, and/or participants to immediate supervisor.
• Enforces City policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Ensures proper maintenance of recreational facilities and equipment to provide a safe and sanitary environment; notifies immediate supervisor of any problems and/or concerns.
• Maintains accurate records of participant attendance.
• Meets the instructional needs of all participants in class, fostering a fun learning environment.
• Provides customer service support to Department.
• Teaches private and group lessons, classes, and clinics for all populations.
• Performs the essential functions as described in the physical demands and work environment sections below.
• Maintains regular attendance and punctuality.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.

Knowledge of:
• A variety of active and passive game activities suitable for children, adolescents, adults, senior citizens, and/or special populations.
• Basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Customer service principles.
• English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
• First Aid, CPR, and safety precautions utilized in recreation.
• Principles and practices of public recreation.
• Rules and regulations, and tournament bracketing governing various competitive athletic games.
• The tools and techniques of teaching music, drama, crafts, sports, or other specialties involved.
• Daily facility operations and programs.

Skill in:
• Instructing individuals on methods or procedures in assigned area of responsibility.
• Providing customer service.
• Using a computer and related software applications.

Ability to:
• Communicate orally and in writing to interact in a positive and pleasant manner with supervisor, City employees, and general public.
• Exercise resourcefulness when encountering new problems.
• Implement recreational programs, special events, and activities.
• Work as a team player with City staff.
• Work cooperatively with groups of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Work with minimal supervision and implement departmental policies and procedures involving program fees, custodial maintenance, program rules, liability issues, registration, evaluations, scheduling, and record keeping.
• Communicate and use interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc., to exchange or convey information and/or receive work direction.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED, and three years of relevant experience. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Must have First Aid & CPR Certification or the ability to obtain within one month from start date.
