Tennis Manager
Tennis Facility in Riverdale, Maryland is looking for a full-time Tennis Manager.

Position Overview:
Tennis Facility is seeking a Recreation/Enterprise Facility Manager II. This position will provide oversight and development of the tennis venue and fitness activities.

Our ideal candidate will provide high-level professional expertise in training, maintenance, and operation of our tennis and fitness facilities. The successful candidate will develop and implement new programming, training, and maintenance methods, in conjunction with the General Manager, to best serve the needs of the Division.

Examples of Important Duties:
• Monitor the day-to-day operations of the tennis bubble, fitness room, and group exercise program.
• Designs, manages, and schedules tennis classes, league play, seasonal court rentals, private lessons, tennis socials, manage fitness room, group exercise, and personal training.
• Regularly meets with citizens, community user group, and business groups to solicit feedback.
• Coordinates activities with other Commission units and outside government agencies.
• Develops goals, strategies, and actions plans to grow programming.
• Runs special events, accommodations for rental groups, major revenue-producing events, as well as the operation of a snack bar and pro shop or other multiple secondary operations.
• Schedules staff, facility use, and equipment.
• Sets standards and evaluates success of programs.
• Recommends and monitors program fees.
• Develops marketing strategies and designs and develops advertising programs to promote tennis and fitness programs.
• Manages and coordinates operating budget for tennis and fitness venues, including preparing the annual budget.
• Controls expenditures in accordance with approved budget by monitoring significant and complex revenue producing programs and activities.
• Procure equipment and merchandise. Works with budget coordinator to solicits bids and price quotes from vendors and contractors. Selects best offer and initiates purchase requisitions and check requests.
• Supervises, recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates staff.
• Manages venue records and reports.
• Attends professional seminars to identify new programs, methods, and equipment.
• Researches technical publications or other government agencies to identify trends.
• Facilitate all community outreach, marketing, and program development targeting youth and teen tennis programs and special events.
• Work with the Maintenance Division to complete maintenance tasks in a timely manner and identify long-term projects.
• Provide expertise towards the design and building of new tennis venue.
• Work to coordinate youth tennis programs.
• Other duties and specialty projects, as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree.
2. Three or more years of tennis facility and program management experience.
3. Experience working in and maintaining a tennis bubble.
4. Non-traditional program coordination experience.
5. One or more years of fitness room and group exercise experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree or four years experience in one of the following fields: parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or in area of required specialty; and
2. Three years of progressive professional experience working in a facility related to parks, recreation, education, business administration, physical education, communication, leisure services, or area of required specialty, including one year as a facility manager, program coordinator or supervisor; or
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience; and,
4. A valid operating license (i.e. county pool operator’s license, child care license, etc.) where appropriate.
5. A valid driver’s license may be required.

Supplemental Information:
• Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds
• Ability to solve complex problems involving many variables; read and interpret technical reports; prepare correspondence, communicate effectively with the public and staff; organize work efficiently; provide courteous customer service; make sound decisions and handle several tasks simultaneously; and act swiftly and affectively in an emergency.
• Extended hours, evenings, weekend, and holiday work may be required.
