Tennis Teaching Professional
Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts is looking for a Tennis Teaching Professional.

Position Overview:
Tennis Center is currently recruiting teaching professionals to coach onsite at the Boston facility. As a mission driven organization, first and foremost, we are looking for tennis professionals who share our values and passion towards bettering our community through the game of tennis.

We are seeking tennis professionals who are able to work with players of all ages and levels in groups and privately. The successful candidate will be working with multiple adult and junior groups on most days throughout the school year.

Our facility hosts 14 tennis courts, 4 classrooms, a fitness center, and a clubhouse. Founded in 1961, we were the first non-profit tennis club in the United States formed by and for the African-American community. Today, we train, educate and provide competitive and community tennis programs for over 5,000 young people annually, of all races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds, and we offer adult leagues and lessons, recreational tennis and competitive tournament play. Our Youth Tennis programs serve K-12 youth during and after school, and in weekend lessons, summer and vacation camps.

General Teaching Professional Responsibilities:
● Be a role model for the tennis community;
● Teach junior and adult clinics for 15- 25 hours per week;
● Work with program leaders to execute group and individual player’s needs;
● Coach/teach all levels and ages;
● Coordinate, plan, and execute private lessons;
● Fulfill off-court responsibilities such as actively participating in relevant meetings, responding to emails and messages, organizing equipment, and completing necessary administrative duties;
● Contribute to a safe and fun environment throughout the club;
● Participate in tennis coaching education opportunities;

General Teaching Professional Requirements:
● Enthusiasm and commitment to Tennis Center’s mission and teach with a growth mindset;
● Be available to work with a split schedule and at least one weekend day;
● Be able to take charge of a group of students with enthusiasm;
● Be able and willing to rally with students;
● Extensive playing history with a minimum playing level of 5.0 or 9.00 UTR. Collegiate playing experience is preferred;
● Tennis Center hires USPTA and/or USPTR certified coaches, and is willing to work with coaches who are seeking certification;
● Tennis Center coaches must be SafePlay certified;
● Tennis Center teaching pros must wear tennis apparel that is appropriate and representative of Tennis Center during lessons and clinics;
● Tennis Center teaching pros must maintain a professional demeanor in all conversations and interactions with students, parents, members and guests;
● Tennis Center teaching pros must attend and participate fully in coaches’ trainings/meetings as scheduled by the Director of Tennis.

Tennis Center offers full-time employees a competitive wage/salary, and a suite of benefits including health, dental, vision and life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement program with a 3% company match. We also offer eligibility to accrue up to five (5) prorated days of sick time per year, under our sick leave policy. Tennis Center pays 50% of certification and recertification expenses.
