Summer Assistant Tennis Professional
Country Club in Gladwyne, Pennsylvania is looking for 4 Summer Assistant Tennis Professionals.

Position Overview:
The Seasonal Assistant Tennis Professional interacts with members and guests through teaching summer camp, lessons and clinics as well as promoting programs and guiding equipment selections. Assists members and guests in a knowledgeable and friendly manner, assuring the highest level of Member service. Seasonal Tennis coaching is primarily focused on Junior Summer Camp but will also teach private lessons and adult clinics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operations –
Help coordinate and run events such as Round Robins, Club Championships, Mixed Socials, etc. with the Head Tennis and Paddle Professional.
Teaches members of all skill-levels with the objective of growing the Tennis program and generating member enthusiasm for the sport.
Provides exceptional member service by prompt and responsive follow-through. Asks questions to identify member’s needs and/or expectations.
Markets and promotes clinics programs, private lessons, and all other Club events.
Follows lesson curriculum as determined by the Head of Tennis and Paddle. Fills classes and supervises programs as assigned.
Represents the Club in a professional manner on and off the court.
Punctual, showing up prepared for lessons and clinics ready to start on time.
Stays up-to-date with industry teaching developments and incorporates them into teaching.
Promotes and helps members with selection of all Pro Shop items. Assists with Pro Shop inventory, sales, and purchasing input.
Re-strings, re-grips, and repairs racquets as needed.
Maintains appearance, upkeep, and cleanliness of all Tennis equipment and facilities. This includes ensuring all balls, targets, hoppers, towels, cups or anything left on the courts is tidied up after events, tournaments, lessons and clinics.
Follows opening and closing procedures ensuring the Tennis and Paddle area is up to Club standards regarding appearance and amenities.
Assists with court maintenance as needed.
Attends and assist in the running of all tennis events including socials, tournaments, men’s nights, outings, club championships, etc.
Attends all Club events specified as “All hands on deck”.
Attends all Athletics Department and Tennis Staff meetings as need.

Administrative –
Clocks in and out accurately and daily.
Assist with monthly Pro Shop inventory count and knowledge of inventory providing suggestions as needed.
Maintains accurate lesson and clinic records for weekly submission.
Ensures all billings for lessons, clinics and Pro Shop sales are billed daily.
Assists creating sign-up sheets, spreadsheets and promotional material.
Assists with ensuring racquet events that include food and beverage service are properly set up as needed.
Assists in maintaining records relating to members and guests.
Operates a computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data; utilizes word, excel, outlook, power point, Jonas, internet, outlook, and other software programs at a high level of proficiency.

Member Service –
Provide a friendly and welcoming environment by acknowledging every member or guest with eye contact, a smile and a greeting.
Acknowledge every member or guest by “Mr/Mrs/Doctor/etc”.
Maintain outstanding, fast and efficient service.
Assist members in the Pro Shop with selections and recommends purchases of inventory.
Maintains Pro Shop hours.
Provides members, guests, and employees with a safe environment by addressing a potential safety hazard that can easily be addressed or bringing to management’s attention to be addressed.
Ensures that all Club members receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their needs.
Upholds the highest operational and member service standards.

Education:
Professional Tennis teaching experience.
USPTA or PTA certified (preferred but not mandatory).
CPR, First Aid, and AED certified.

Competencies:
General understanding of Health, Wellness, and Physical Fitness.
Tennis specific operation practices, procedures and programming.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification/training.
Tennis equipment and the skill to fix minor repairs.
Ability to implement organized Tennis programs.
Ability to be discreet and maintain a high level professionalism.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
Ability to use effective problem solving skills, and make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Excellent written and oral communication skills (for communication of policies, procedures, regulations, reports, etc, to staff, members, and guests.)
Trustworthiness and willingness to share relevant information with has the ability to inspire, coach, and train.
Interpersonal abilities such as empathy, motivational interviewing, and effective communication.
Computer skills for tracking member attendance, training programs, and research.
Knowledge of Tennis operation practices, procedures and the principals of recreation programming, leadership and team building.
Ability to enforce facilities rules and regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.
Teaching ability with both adults and juniors.
Well organized dependable person with ability to work independently or in a team environment
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the program, goals, and objectives pertaining to Tennis.
Meets Club standards for grooming, and hygiene.
Meets Club standards for uniforms following Athletic Department dress code rules and ensuring all clothing is Club logo’ d.
Ability to work irregular hours, late evenings, weekends, and Holidays when appropriate. Required to be punctual for all shifts and have reliable attendance.
