Assistant Tennis Professional
Tennis Facility in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is looking for an Assistant Tennis Professional.

Position Overview:
The purpose of this classification is to plan, manage, and oversee tennis services and programs for the Facility’s Tennis activities.

Essential Functions:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.

Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; creates and distributes assistant tennis pro schedules; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; consults with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise.

Plans, promotes, directs, and supervises tennis programs, such as instruction, tournaments, matches, special events and other daily tennis activities; evaluates activities and events for overall value an effectiveness; recruits and hires instructors; establishes and distributes schedules for activities; teaches and instructs classes and clinics; and administers policies with respect to scheduling, safety, and insurance.

Coordinates facility use; coordinates match play; and optimizes court utilization for member and public play.

Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies; purchases supplies according to established budgetary parameters; reviews inventory of tennis balls and equipment; ensures proper maintenance and storage of all equipment and supplies; maintains inventory records.

Conducts regular inspections of facilities to ensure safety, security, cleanliness, and proper maintenance.

Approves marketing strategy for programs and events; reviews and approves promotional materials to increase public awareness of and participation in tennis programming; reviews and approves news releases, flyers, brochures, etc.; makes presentations to various groups as requested.

Performs general customer service and administrative duties as required; greets customers; receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints of citizens regarding recreation programs, policies and/or personnel; attends meetings; assists customers; reviews reports and correspondence; and maintains documentation as required.

Develops and administers tennis budget; monitors expenditures to ensure compliance with approved budget.

Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures; ensures adherence to established safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees and other individual; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.

Prepares, completes and/or reviews various forms, reports, correspondence, monthly and annual reports, daily cash sheet, budget documents, surveys, grant applications, USTA tournament sanctioning forms, and USTA officiating schedules incident reports, or other documents.

Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, billing reports, facility use permits, registration forms, time sheets, grant applications, schedules, policies, procedures, catalogs, manuals, rules or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.

Communicates and coordinates with school athletic directors and coaches regarding facility usage, court allotment, practices, and matches scheduled; ensures that proper maintenance is being done through the Horry County School System.

Communicates with supervisor, City employees, the Community Tennis Association, USTA South Carolina, other tennis professionals, the general public or other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, resolve problems, or give/receive advice/direction.

Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, codes, regulations; maintains an awareness of new issues, methods, equipment, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; participates in continuing education activities; attends meetings, conferences, workshops and training sessions as appropriate.

Operates a motor vehicle, tennis equipment, personal computer, general office equipment, or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions, to include the use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, or other system software.

Additional Functions:
Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of experience in tennis instruction as a USPTA and or PTR Certified Professional; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Must possess and maintain a USPTA and/or PTR Certification.
