Racquet Sports Area Lead
Fitness Club in Charlotte, North Carolina is looking for a full-time Racquet Sports Area Lead.

Position Overview:
The Racquet Sports Area Lead role is a combined Pickleball Area Lead role as well as a Tennis Manager. This role partners closely with the National Racquet Sports corporate leaders on pickleball day-to-day business operations, identifies opportunities for improvement, and helps drive consistent execution at each of the pickleball clubs. Leads the Area pickleball call and conducts 1:1s with Pickleball Coordinators in their Area.

The Racquet Sports Area Lead will also fill the role of Tennis Manager at their home club, which entails owning the overall direction, coordination, and supervision of the club’s Tennis & Shop Department. The Tennis Manager analyzes the business, determines areas of strength and opportunity, and sets long term strategic vision. They will create and execute a growth plan independently by being able to understand and utilize P&L management, KPIs, and on/off court SOPs. They will manage talent by proactively recruiting ahead of need, retaining strong talent, directly addressing poor performance in a timely manner, and developing according to best practices. The Tennis Manager consistently exhibits Club’s 9 leadership competencies, including Integrity, Thrust, and Empathy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leads the pickleball team in the assigned Area and Tennis team at home club to achieving and exceeding revenue, contribution margin and EBITDA goals, lesson goals. Partners with General Managers, Regional Directors, Regional Vice President and Tennis Managers to drive company-wide initiatives within Area.
• Drives the hiring, on-boarding and development of all new Pickleball Coordinators and staff pros in Area as well as the Tennis team at their home club. Develops their team through quality orientations, direction, feedback, giving them tools to improve and develop their skill set.
• Schedules and leads weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual meetings with Pickleball Coordinators and senior leadership team. Travels to clubs within Area for audit visits and on an as needed basis.
• Participates in the launch and on-going performance of new procedures, programs, services, training and certification. Assesses market trends to recommend new strategies, programs, and operational efficiencies.
• Creates and executes the vision for their home club’s Tennis and Shop department by analyzing the business and determining areas of strength and opportunity, with the goal of improving member experience and exceeding financial budgets.
• Directs sales and promotion efforts to involve current members in additional programs, to integrate new Life Time members into tennis pathways, and to re-engage inactive tennis players. Works closely with other Club business units to raise awareness about Tennis and look for ways to partner with them in improving the member experience.
• Creates exceptional member experiences by developing safe, professional, and comprehensive tennis lessons and programs to ensure students develop along a pathway that encourages continued involvement and a positive Net Promoter Score and by ensuring all tennis facilities/equipment are clean, organized and in good working condition.
• Understands and implements on court teaching methodologies for all levels, as well as trains and hold staff accountable to these. Implements Life Time branded programs including and especially SMART and Play Learn Love.
• Gives direction on optimal court scheduling and on tennis pro assignments to classes and lessons. Guides creation of weekly Shop and/or tennis desk schedule.
• Attends sales huddle meetings, national calls, and facilitates tennis department meetings.
• Personally teaches on court on average 5 hours a week or less.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
• HS Graduate or equivalent.
• United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and/or Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and/or IPTPA and/or PPR certification.
CPR and AED Certified within 30 days of hire.
• 3 to 4 years of experience with multi-unit management, with emphasis given to candidates with experience managing annual budgets of over $1 million.
• Understands and utlizes Profit & Loss (P&L) management, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and on/off court Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop large teams (50 people or more).
• Extensive knowledge of tennis programming and teaching methodologies, including and especially Play Learn Love and SMART (Juniors).
• Excellent customer service skills, friendly, outgoing, and positive attitude.
• Excellent communication, time management, and organization skills.
• Comfortable working with all age groups and building positive relationships with members and team members.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb and lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Level Degree.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook).
• 2 or more years experience as a Life Time Tennis Manager.
