Tennis Program Director
Tennis League in Brooklyn, New York is looking for a full-time Tennis Program Director.

Position Overview:
Tennis League is seeking a full-time Program Director who is passionate about tennis and its benefits for youth development and about supporting underserved communities. This senior level position will lead all program planning and operations, supervising a staff of program managers, site leaders and education coordinators and over 100 volunteers. The successful candidate will be an effective leader who ensures continued operational success, has interpersonal skills to collaborate with local and industry partners, and bring vision to design new programming to extend the Tennis League pathway supporting students as they grow up in the program.

Responsibilities: – Recruit and supervise paid staff. – Manage and evaluate two PT Program Managers. – Recruit and train seasonal staff. – Recruit, train and engage team of 100+ volunteers. – Lead recruitment and on-boarding to maintain necessary volunteer support for programs. – Develop training manual and direct training sessions. – Maintain communications and engagement to motivate, educate and retain volunteers. – Oversee all programming operations. – Manage student registration and family communications. – Oversee curriculum design, working with Site Leaders and Education Coordinators. – Coordinate scheduling and staffing across programs, sites and community events. – Track and report results to Board, grants providers and others as needed. – Maintain site permits as needed. – Plan and lead seasonal student-facing special events. – Expand reach of NYCHA students, as outlined in Strategic Plan – work with NYCHA leaders and families to recruit new students; manage registration to give priority to NYCHA residents. – Develop and introduce new programs and initiatives, as outlined in Strategic Plan. – Design and introduce expanded Tennis League Pathway program, supporting needs of older students – higher education/employment prep planned for 2022. – Identify and pursue priorities for court renovations and new site expansions. – Build and maintain community and partner relations. – Point of contact for USTA Eastern, National and Foundation as it relates to programming enhancements and administration. – Point of contact for NYCHA communications and outreach, including NYCHA Resident Presidents and community center representatives to ensure Tennis League has a constant line of communication.
– Attend Resident Association meetings to promote Tennis League and speak with community members. – Work with Youth INC, a capacity-building partner, on program metrics and positive youth development best practices. – Attend Tennis League events and be a strong public speaker to help drive fundraising initiatives, interact with Board and promote the organization to new networks.

Qualifications & Experience: – Local resident, familiar with Brooklyn. – Knowledgeable about the sport and industry of tennis. – Experienced in managing staff and volunteers to deliver programming to youth. – Education experience – ability to oversee programming that combines tennis and educational components. – Passion for community work and Tennis League mission. – Management and administrative experience. – Strong communicator and leader, effective at collaborating with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds and with competing needs. – Proficient at using Google Drive, PowerPoint and Excel. – Familiarity with registration platforms (LeagueApps) a plus. – Excellent organizational skills (oral and written) and the ability to manage details, multitask and work under deadlines. – Innovative, creative thinker able to design new solutions when necessary. – Bachelor’s degree.

Terms of Employment: – Full-time role with benefits package including health insurance and paid vacation. – Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. – Reports to Executive Director, works closely with Development and Marketing team.
