Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach
University in Lubbock, Texas is looking for an Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach.

Position Overview:
Performs responsible work in the development of teams and individual athletes for sports competition in the Intercollegiate Athletics Department under direct supervision of a head coach.

Major/Essential Functions:
• Speak to groups of student athletes and Boosters when opportunities arise; have excellent communication skills.
• Marketing and developing strategies for recruiting student athletes.
• Comply with all NCAA, Big 12 and University rules, regulations and policies. Keep abreast of changing rules, techniques, technologies, and philosophies relevant to the sport.
• Travel extensively to recruit student athletes to University as well as travel to team’s tournaments; Identify and recruit potential athletes by sending recruitment letters, meeting with recruits, and arranging and offering incentives, such as athletic scholarships.
• Coordinate team travel plans, including team tournaments as well as recruiting trips.
• Be proficient in email, excel, and basic computer operations.
• Assist in the organization and preparation of team practice drills and development.
• Contact the parents of players to provide information and answer questions.
• Monitor the academic eligibility of student athletes.
• Provide training direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare athletes for competitive events.
• Counsel student athletes on academic, athletic, and personal issues.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus three years experience in a responsible coaching position in specifically related sports area. Competitive playing experience and/or coaching experience may exchange for education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of junior prospective student athletes in the US and internationally whom are seeking scholarships. Ability to teach young players the fundamentals and finer parts of the sport of tennis.
