Director of Tennis
Racquet Club in Apollo Beach, Florida is looking for a full-time Director of Tennis.

Position Overview:
Job Title: Director of Tennis
Department: Racquets
Reports To: GM, Ownership
Supervises: Teaching Staff, Court Maintenance

The Racquet Club is looking for a highly energetic and motivated candidate to lead the racquets department as the next Director of Tennis. The club is currently at an all-time high in tennis revenue, lesson volume and court usage documented by year end Club Automation financial statements. The incoming DOT should possess strong leadership skills and the ability to work successfully in a team environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of teaching adult, junior and high performance players. This individual will remain highly visible, display excellent verbal communication and will above all else, create a favorable member experience.

Director of Tennis Position Snapshot
The DOT is responsible for the oversight and execution of the entire racquets program at the club, overseeing both tennis & pickleball. This individual will oversee department financials including general billing, accurate lesson records, junior program P&L, guest fees, USTA grants and equipment budgets. The successful candidate will engage with membership through a combination of teaching lessons, junior program hours and running monthly social events. While the club does have part-time court maintenance staff, the DOT will be tasked with ensuring courts are up to excellent playing conditions including light court maintenance as needed. The incoming DOT will be the “face” of the department and will be highly visible in all programming and events. This position will report to the GM and ownership and will directly oversee the teaching and maintenance staff.

While maintaining pace with current lesson demand, the incoming candidate will create an annual calendar of social events to reinvigorate and engage membership. The DOT will be expected to host one large social event (pickleball or tennis) on a monthly basis and prepare accurate marketing efforts prior to and closing the event. The DOT will also lead a movement towards creating and bolstering a non-established pickleball program. While members actively play and social groups have been established, the incoming DOT will be expected to offer new outlets and create programming.

DOT Responsibilities
• Ensure all racquet department financials are accurate and in accordance with projected forecast.
• Heavily focus on growing tennis membership and retaining current members.
• Finalize all court reservations for USTA Leagues, Interclub teams, social blocks and Club events for calendar year.
• Successfully onboard new members and introduce them to social and competitive play opportunities.
• Maintain up-to-date annual calendar of social events (club championships, Tequila Tiebreaks, Friday Frenzy, etc).
• Create monthly news update to tennis membership and keep email list current.
• Complete and approve payroll and ensure assistant pro lessons have been recorded properly.
• Light afternoon court maintenance with oversight of monthly and major maintenance goals
• Create enough lesson opportunities to retain assistant teaching pro staff.
• Approve Junior Tennis Program P&L statements prepared by Director of Junior Tennis.
• Coordinate with stringer regarding member racquet repair requests.
• Have daily visibility in regards to junior program participants and parents.
• Coordinate court usage for members, assistant pros and standing social court blocks.

Education and Certification Requirements
• 3-5 years Head professional/Director of Tennis experience
USPTA or PTR Certification (USPTA Elite preferred)
• College degree from 4-year accredited university
• Proven track record of retaining assistant pros
• Significant experience with team practices & group clinics
• Ability to accommodate all levels of adult and junior play
• Ability to play tennis at a USTA 5.0 level or higher is preferred
• Knowledge of Court Maintenance with focus on Har-Tru clay courts

Compensation package is commensurate with experience. This position will offer a combination of a base salary, lesson income, junior program percentage, and other profit sharing opportunities within the racquets department. Previous DOT earned $100,000+.
