Country Club in Hayward, California is looking for a Tennis Professional.

Position Overview:
Promote the game of tennis to members of the club and local community. Provide tennis social programs, competitive programs, and lessons for all levels of ability for members and guests.

Direct all staff to provide exceptional customer service and create a superior product in order to reach all projected financial budgets. Strive for the highest standards to provide a 5-Star experience. Implement solid business strategies and efficiencies to guide the operation in a successful direction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Provide professional tennis lessons to members and non-members.
• Handles day-to-day management of tennis operations & facility to insure all quality levels, standards and traditions are maintained.
• Forecasts rounds, revenues and gross operating revenue on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Orchestrate merchandising program. This includes: increasing overall tennis retail sales, ordering, receiving, pricing, inventory control and establishing a monthly and yearly buying plan.
• Responsible for preparation and management of operating budget to include revenue, cost of sales and expenses.
• Plans yearly tournament schedules and coordinates the events.
• Develops and establishes a broad range of relationships among customer base by being visible at all times.
• Counsels and disciplines all staff in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the Management Group.
• Maintains a professional image and personal appearance at all times.
• Oversees daily staffing levels to ensure proper labor needs are scheduled for the forecasted tennis play.
• Protects and maintains all company assets.
• Promotes the image and standards of the facility and the Management Group through the media, USPTA and other professional organizations.
• Host clinics for all levels of ability.
• Create social tennis events to encourage participation in the club.
• Create and develop tennis leagues for men and women.
• Host club championships and other member guest events annually.
• Train and advice staff on instruction techniques.
• Responsible for the upkeep, safety, and maintenance of all tennis related equipment and supplies.
• Conduct summer children’s camps each year for members and their guests.
• Each associate is expected to carry out, within our capabilities, all reasonable requests by Management.
• Assist in any other assignment or emergency.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED and 4 year degree preferred. Certified USPTA instructor.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to speak one-on-one effectively to internal and external customers.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Current USPTA Certification

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
Outside on the tennis courts and related areas and also in fitness center.

Hourly plus commissions for lessons and groups.
