Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach
University in West Lafayette, Indiana is looking for an Assistant Men’s Tennis Coach.

Position Overview:
The Assistant Coach – Men’s Tennis will lead the team and/or individual practices to improve tennis skills, technique, strategy, and knowledge, based on the seasonal program developed in collaboration with the head coach. In this role, you will identify, recruit, and assist the Head Coach in the selection of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and university standards, develop and maintain the recruiting database, for both domestic and international recruiting and assist with the overall management of the program including operations, travel, recruiting, equipment, coaching, and team operating budget. In addition, you will work with the Marketing and Communications department to development strategies to enhance plans, including social media, with the goal of facilitating awareness and participation of the larger tennis community. Additional duties will include:
• Scheduling of individual and team practices, using in-house software applications
• Coordinating travel itineraries, procuring equipment for the team, and assisting the head coach with the overall management of the program operations
• Spearheading social media marketing for various fundraising/fanraising events
• Developing rapport with student-athletes, so they feel comfortable sharing their on and off-court needs, including strength and conditioning, athletic training, and sports psychology
• Working with the head coach to follow budgetary guidelines and budget development

Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in sports management, marketing, business administration
• 2 years of Division I collegiate coaching and/or playing experience in the sport of tennis
• Ability to work within the BIG 10 Conference and knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with student-athletes, faculty, coaches, and administrators
• Knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, techniques and safety rules & regulations
• Ability to analyze, interpret, communicate, and adhere to University, Big Ten Conference and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations
• Excellent communication (oral & written), planning, organizational, interpersonal, interviewing, strength training and counseling skills
• Ability to recruit on a national level, instructs and motivates student-athletes on sport fundamentals, techniques and safety rules and regulations, and provides academic and personal mentoring
• Ability to influence and build positive relationships among diverse individuals including student-athletes, parents, coaches, media, faculty, staff, students and general public
• Must be able to foster a participative management style to successfully guide the work of others
• Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting sport
• Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., work processing, spread sheets, data query, internet, etc.
