Head Tennis Coach
University in Johnson, Vermont is looking for a Head Tennis Coach.

Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Men’s and Women’s Tennis Head Coach will be in charge of all aspects of the Tennis programs including recruitment of quality student-athletes, retention, fundraising, conditioning programs, scheduling, and organizing and planning of practices and match strategies. The Head Coach will assist in scheduling matches and coordinating travel. The Head Coach will be expected to contribute to the educational mission of the University by offering direction, diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as instruction in the sport of tennis. The Head Coach ensures the development of both the student and the athlete.

Specific Tasks/Duties performed:
• Contributes to the educational mission of the University by coordinating the instruction of student-athletes in the area of tennis and competition;
• Recruits quality student-athletes for the tennis program;
• Instructs methods and strategies and coaches student-athletes in the sport;
• Schedules practices and competitions;
• Assists with coordinating travel (ex: van, hotel, meals, etc.);
• Transports and supervises student-athletes while on the road;
• Trains and supervises assistant and or volunteer coach(es);
• Support and drive a culture or Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for all students and athletes.
• Participate in fundraising activities to supplement the operational budget for the program
• Monitors specific sport budget to ensure fiscal responsibility;
• Operates the program under the rules and regulations of the College, the NCAA, and the NAC; understanding that an employee can be suspended for a period of time without pay or terminated if found to be involved in significant or repetitive violations of NCAA regulations;
• This position will be responsible for monitoring academic performance of student athletes. This includes overseeing of class attendance, grades, class performance and study habits to encourage the attainment of a degree and maintain athletics eligibility.
• The head coach will be responsible for initializing and supervising community service projects in coordination with the athletic department.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of coaching and teaching techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
• Ability to drive a personal or College vehicle for the purpose of college business on a regular basis.
• Ability to travel when necessary
• Knowledge of recruiting techniques and the ability to effectively use them.
• Current certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid.

Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree or related work experience in the related field is required.
• At least one year of experience coaching tennis at the high school, college or higher competitive level or at least two years of experience competing at the NCAA or USTA level.
• A valid driver’s license is required. The license must meet insurance company rules and regulations for driving underwriting criteria.
