Club in Westport, Connecticut is looking for an Assistant Racquets Professional.

Position Overview:
Birchwood Country Club in Westport, CT, is seeking a high energy, enthusiastic assistant racquets professional with tennis playing experience at either the college or professional level within the last five years. This position reports to the Director of Racquets. Birchwood has a very active racquets program, with seven har-tru tennis courts, two platform tennis courts and three pickleball courts.

The Assistant Professional’s primary focus is a high level of customer service focused on the members’ experience. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of creating and growing long-term relationships while understanding their own role at the club and how it creates the members’ experience. The ideal candidate will actively promote the program and themselves to the membership and to encourage member engagement and turnout.

The Assistant Professional will teach tennis and pickleball with the opportunity to expand into platform tennis. Applicants must be able to create and implement programs and lesson plans that are customized to the needs of the members, be able to supervise less experienced instructors, and work well with all employees and members of the club.

Applicants must have a positive and energetic attitude and be able to enthusiastically promote club events and programs, teach group and private lessons to players of all abilities and experience levels, and be able to challenge each level appropriately. Other duties include stringing, daily communication in person, via telephone and email with members and staff, light court preparation, social media content, set up and clean up to maintain a professional presentation of the facility, and assist with the general operations of the racquets program.

Compensation package depends on experience, and includes an off-court hourly base rate, an on-court hourly lesson rate, stringing, and a discretionary bonus for achieving specific goals during the season.

Job Type: Full-time during the summer season with the option to expand into the Fall and Winter. The Birchwood season starts May 3 and ends Labor Day, September 1, 2025. Applicants should be available to start close to the beginning of the season.
Hours: Tuesday – Sunday and statutory holidays: Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4 and Labor Day and occasional Monday Outing events.
