Tennis Camp in Eagle River, Wisconsin is looking for a Tennis Professional.
Position Overview:
We are looking for the BEST of the best staff to work at one of the most fulfilling and admired camps in the country. The Summer Tennis Pro will have the opportunity to teach campers of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced players, in both group and private lesson settings. As a Summer Tennis Pro, you will help campers develop their skills while fostering a love for the sport, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This position is demanding yet highly rewarding, allowing you to make a lasting impact on campers while enjoying a summer of fun and personal growth.
Dates: June 8 – August 6
Pay Range: $7.5K-$10K + travel reimbursement up to $300
Food and housing included too.
General Responsibilities
Attend staff training, orientation programs, and weekly staff meetings.
Instruct campers in tennis during scheduled activity periods, tailoring lessons to various skill levels.
Offer private and semi-private tennis lessons for campers looking for extra instruction.
Maintain tennis courts, equipment, and related facilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment.
Foster a supportive, positive, and engaging learning environment for all campers.
Exhibit enthusiasm and energy while leading lessons and interacting with campers.
Work closely with the Activity Director and fellow staff to ensure a smooth-running tennis program.
Specific Responsibilities
Tennis Instruction
Plan and execute engaging group lessons tailored to different skill levels and age groups.
Provide one-on-one instruction to campers who sign up for private lessons.
Teach fundamental tennis skills, including strokes, footwork, strategy, and match play.
Track camper progress and provide feedback when needed.
Assist in developing and improving the camp’s tennis curriculum.
Encourage good sportsmanship, teamwork, and confidence-building on and off the court.
Organize and facilitate tennis tournaments, skills challenges, and/or fun competitions.
Get to know campers individually and support their growth as players and individuals.
Be a positive role model for campers, demonstrating patience, encouragement, and enthusiasm.
Facility & Equipment Maintenance:
Keep courts clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout the summer.
Maintain an inventory of tennis equipment and ensure rackets, balls, and nets are in good condition.
Report any necessary repairs or maintenance issues to camp leadership.
Administrative Duties
Abide by the time off/line-duty schedule.
Provide any necessary paperwork around equipment evaluation, incident reports, etc.
Staff Professionalism
Embody camp values: do the right things for the right reasons.
Accept feedback and constructively problem-solve during supervisory conversations.
Set a good example for campers and fellow staff in punctuality, hygiene, and teamwork.
Follow camp staff rules as outlined in the staff handbook and in staff training.
Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
Maintain a proactive, confident, and positive attitude.
Seek help from appropriate staff when needed.
Qualifications:
Strong background in tennis, with coaching experience.
Ability to work with children ages 7-15 and staff in an outdoor, rustic setting.
Enthusiasm for teaching tennis and creating a fun, encouraging learning environment.
Ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively.
Ability to communicate and instruct campers of all skill levels.
Ability to observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness, and enforce safety guidelines.
Physical ability to actively participate in tennis activities and instruction
Positive attitude, adaptability, sense of humor, patience, and responsibility.
Salary:
Salary is commensurate with experience. In addition, you will be provided housing, food, and in-camp medical attention, internet and the use of camp facilities and equipment (when not being used for activities/programming).
