Performance Tennis Coach
Tennis Academy in Woodinville, Washington is looking for a full-time Performance Tennis Coach.
Position Overview:
Tier 1 Performance Summary
Tier 1 Performance is a high-performance tennis academy based at Woodinville Sports Club in the Pacific Northwest. The academy is built on a long-term athlete development model that emphasizes technical excellence, athletic development, competitive mindset, and character. Tier 1 provides a clear and intentional pathway from introductory Red Ball programming through nationally competitive junior performance environments.
The Tier 1 system integrates developmental athletes and progresses players through Orange and Green Ball stages into advanced performance training. Athletes train in a structured, athlete-first environment supported by experienced coaches, performance staff, and access to strength and conditioning, recovery, and multi-sport athletic development.
Tier 1 Performance has a strong track record of developing high-level junior players, building deep training groups, and preparing athletes for sectional, national, and collegiate pathways. The academy is known for its coaching standards, curriculum consistency, and culture of accountability, effort, and continuous improvement.
Position Summary
The Performance Coach is a core coaching role within Tier 1 Performance, with a primary focus on 12-and-under junior athletes and adult programming. This coach is responsible for delivering high-quality training across Red, Orange, and Green Ball pathway classes, foundational junior development groups, and adult classes.
The Performance Coach plays a key role in executing the athlete development strategy, reinforcing technical and athletic fundamentals, and supporting athletes as they progress through the Tier 1 system. This role requires versatility, strong communication skills, and the ability to coach both developing juniors and adult participants within a performance-oriented club environment.
This position requires availability to work evenings, as the majority of junior and adult classes are scheduled during after-school and evening hours.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute and support the comprehensive athlete development pathway, with a primary emphasis on 12-and-under junior athletes and adult programs
• Deliver high-quality on-court coaching through group and private sessions for both junior and adult classes, emphasizing technical fundamentals, movement development, and long-term progression
• Design and implement structured training sessions aligned with Tier 1 methodology and curriculum standards
• Teach and reinforce correct technical fundamentals including grips, swing patterns, footwork, spacing, and contact awareness
• Integrate movement quality, coordination, balance, and athletic development into daily training sessions
• Apply age-appropriate coaching principles, adjusting communication, intensity, and objectives for juniors and adult participants
• Coach adult classes with a focus on skill development, enjoyment, fitness, and engagement while maintaining Tier 1 performance standards
• Collaborate closely with senior coaches and the Director of High Performance to align training objectives and support seamless athlete progression
• Provide mentorship and leadership within assigned training blocks by modeling professional coaching behavior, preparation, and communication
• Build strong relationships with athletes and families, providing clear feedback and guidance on development timelines and expectations
• Maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive training environment that reflects Tier 1 cultural values and performance standards
• Uphold all safety protocols, operational procedures, and club policies
• Represent Woodinville Sports Club and Tier 1 Performance professionally at competitions, camps, clinics, and community events when assigned
• Support athlete recruitment and retention by delivering consistently high-quality training experiences across junior and adult programs
Qualifications
• Experience coaching junior and or adult tennis players
• Primary experience working with 12-and-under athletes and adult players
• NCAA Division I playing background or a minimum of two to three years of coaching experience at a comparable training academy
• Strong understanding of technical fundamentals and progressive skill development
• Knowledge of long-term athlete development principles
• Ability to manage groups while still providing individual attention
• Strong communication skills with athletes, parents, and adult participants
• High energy, organized, and detail-oriented coaching approach
• Willingness and availability to work evenings, as this is when the majority of training sessions take place
• Commitment to collaboration, professional growth, and Tier 1 values
• USPTA, PTR, or ITF coaching certification required, or required completion within one year of job start
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working within a structured academy or performance-based environment
• Background or interest in athletic development and multi-sport training models
