Pickleball Professional
Club in Portland, Oregon is looking for a Pickleball Professional.

Position Overview:
Join one of the most dynamic pickleball communities in Portland.

We’re hiring a Pickleball Professional who brings energy, connection, and a passion for helping players improve. This role blends high-quality instruction with real community impact — on and off the court.

If you’re motivated, love working with people, and want to build a strong book of business, this is your opportunity.

At Jumbo’s Pickleball, this is more than a coaching role.

This is a chance to build something — your reputation, your community, your business within the club.

The Pickleball Professional plays a critical role in delivering exceptional instruction, creating meaningful member relationships, and building the vibrant culture that defines Jumbo’s.

Success in this role is not measured by hours alone, but by energy, presence, and impact.

The pros who thrive here are the ones who show up, connect deeply, and create momentum — on and off the court.

The instructors who grow fastest at Jumbo’s
are the ones who combine great teaching with great connection.

Primary Responsibilities
Pros contribute through both on-court instruction and off-court engagement.

On-Court Instruction (50%)
Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction that helps players improve and enjoy the game.
Lead and assist clinics, camps, academies, and group sessions
Deliver private and semi-private lessons
Support tournaments, leagues, and special events
Maintain high instructional standards aligned with Jumbo’s philosophy
Adapt coaching for all ages and levels
Support new program launches and curriculum execution

You bring:
Clear communication
Positive, high-energy presence
Strong demonstration skills
The ability to make every player feel seen and improving

Member Engagement & Club Presence (25%)
Great pros are visible pros.
Pros are required to spend 10+ hours per week at the club outside of scheduled lessons building relationships and contributing to the energy of the space.

This includes:
Greeting members and learning names
Watching matches and offering encouragement
Engaging players after games
Participating in open play
Supporting the front desk and events
Connecting with frequent players

Expectation:
Build meaningful connections with 10+ members per week
Visibility builds trust.
Trust builds demand.

Demand Generation (15%)
Pros are responsible for building their own book of business through connection and consistency.
Identify players who would benefit from instruction
Follow up in a natural, professional way
Promote clinics, series, and programs
Create opportunities (drop-in drills, tune-ups, themed sessions)
This is not selling.
This is helping players get better — consistently.

Team Contribution (10%)
Great pros make the club better for everyone.
Support fellow instructors and the Head Pro
Step in where needed
Contribute ideas that improve programming
Maintain a professional, team-first mindset

Growth Expectations (Required)
This role rewards those who bring energy and initiative.
Pros are expected to:
Hustle — be present, proactive, and engaged
Connect — know names, goals, and stories
Improve Players — every session should move someone forward
Contribute — help elevate the club, not just your schedule
These are not optional behaviors.
They are the foundation of success here.

Compensation & Performance Benchmarks
Compensation is directly tied to engagement, instructional mix, and impact.

Your Minimum Expectation
$40,000 – $50,000 annually
12–16 hours/week of instruction
Primarily private lessons and small groups

A Strong Performer Can Expect:
$50,000 – $65,000 annually
