Assistant Racquets Professional
Club in Rumford, Rhode Island is looking for a full-time Assistant Racquets Professional.
Position Overview:
This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that includes 3 surfaces of tennis, platform tennis, squash, and pickleball. The Assistant Racquets Professional will work closely with the Director of Racquets (DOR) and assistant DOR to provide exceptional service and promote a positive racquet sports experience for all members.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching & Instruction:
Lead private and group lessons for members of all ages and skill levels in tennis, platform tennis, squash, and pickleball.
Assist with the development and implementation of racquets programming, including clinics, camps, and junior development programs.
Conduct on-court assessments and offer technical guidance to improve player performance.
Event Coordination & Management:
Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of racquet sports events and tournaments, ensuring smooth operation and member engagement.
Support club events, including inter-club matches, socials, and special programs.
Help maintain the club’s tournament calendar and ensure all members are informed about upcoming events.
Facility Management:
Ensure the courts and facilities are well-maintained and ready for use, reporting any maintenance needs to the Head Racquets Professional or management.
Manage court reservations and assist members in scheduling play.
Customer Service & Member Engagement:
Provide exceptional customer service to club members, answering questions, giving advice, and fostering a welcoming environment.
Build strong relationships with members, encouraging participation in racquet sports programs and events.
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring all members feel comfortable and motivated to improve their skills.
Administrative Duties:
Assist with administrative tasks related to the racquets program, including lesson scheduling, member communication, and maintaining lesson records.
Manage the pro shop, including retail sales, inventory, and providing members with information about racquets and gear.
Job Expectations:
Work Schedule: Full-time position with evenings and weekends required, especially during peak seasons.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Racquets Professional, assistant DOR, DOR, club management, and other staff members to ensure the success of the racquets program.
Professionalism: Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times, serving as a role model for members and junior players.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with trends and developments in tennis, platform tennis, squash, and pickleball to offer the best training methods and keep the program dynamic.
Qualifications:
Strong background and proficiency in tennis, platform tennis, squash, and pickleball (prior coaching experience preferred).
Previous coaching experience or teaching certification in one or more of these sports is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both in person and via digital channels.
Ability to interact and engage with club members of all ages, fostering a positive, inclusive, and professional environment.
Organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
Enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about growing the sport and enhancing the member experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional certifications from organizations like USPTA, PTR, or similar (or willingness to obtain).
Experience with managing or coordinating racquet sports events and programs.
Familiarity with club management software or court booking systems.
