Director of Pickleball

Department: Pickleball – Manager

Reports to: Assistant GM

Position Summary

The Director of Pickleball (DOP) is a key leader responsible for all aspects of pickleball programming, operations, and staff management. Reporting to the General Manager (GM), the DOP provides strategic direction, ensures program quality, drives financial performance, and fosters community engagement.

Responsibilities Leadership & Staff Management

Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for all pickleball staff.
Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate coaches and ambassadors in collaboration with the GM and Employer Services.
Lead staff meetings, training workshops, and ongoing development initiatives.
Ensure staff adhere to club policies, procedures, and service standards.
Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary actions/documentation as needed.
Communicate and coordinate with front desk and office staff to ensure smooth program operations.

Programming & Instruction

Design and oversee all pickleball programming (adult, junior, clinics, leagues, tournaments, and events).
Teach up to 15-20 hours per week across clinics, lessons, and events.
Anticipate member demand and develop new programming to meet evolving needs.
Maintain program quality and oversee evaluations for all pickleball activities.
Consolidate and adjust programming to align with financial and operational benchmarks.

Marketing & Member Engagement

Oversee creation and execution of marketing materials, flyers, and promotions.
Manage pickleball-related social media strategy and content production.
Lead monthly/annual promotions and campaigns to drive growth and engagement.
Establish and maintain community partnerships and vendor relationships.
Coordinate an annual calendar of events and tournaments that balance social and competitive play.

Operations & Facility

Work with plant manager to maintain pickleball facilities in excellent condition.
Ensure cleanliness and upkeep of courts, lobby, locker rooms, bathrooms, and parking lot.
Order and maintain inventory of pickleball equipment.
Handle inbound calls and emails regarding pickleball within 12–24 hours.

Financial & Strategic Management

Monitor P&L for pickleball programming and maintain payroll under 45% of revenue.
Partner with GM on annual strategic planning and business development.
Develop and oversee initiatives to increase revenue and expand external partnerships.

Qualifications

Associate degree or 3–5 years of management experience.
10+ years coaching in a club environment.
PPR or IPTPA certification.
4.5+ playing rating.
CPR/AED certification (provided if necessary).
Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
