Director of Tennis
Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky is looking for a Director of Tennis.
Position Overview:
Specific Duties
A. Programming
- Ensure tennis programs are in place at TSTC to service our all-inclusive membership opportunities.
- Organize periodic special TSTC events, in an effort to attract and retain members, and their interests; in collaboration with GM. Requires prior authorization/approval by GM and CEO.
- Provide beginner through advanced instruction/lessons to enhance broad-based member participation; revenue instruction/lessons not to exceed 20% of Tennis Director’s time.
- Work closely with GM to create TSTC’s “distinguished” juniors’ tennis program.
- Design and schedule clinic and group lesson curriculums.
- Provide educational opportunities for all members, so they can understand and enjoy tennis.
- Provide regular feedback to GM, to help guide suitable programming; based on the number of courts, personnel and budget necessary for operations management.
- Help in the creation of the annual calendar of tennis activities/events for TSTC.
- If required, assist GM with compiling TSTC’s annual budget.
- Ensure TSTC tennis staff is up-to-date on their certifications and trainings; in collaboration with GM.
- Enforce TSTC policies, rules and regulations; governing the use of the facility, its equipment and other property.
- Enthusiastically encourage participation by assisting in planning events to promote tennis, and fellowship at TSTC.
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times when representing TSTC.
- Maintain close working relationships with TSTC professionals.
- Facilitate the interaction among players at TSTC clinics and programs.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
B. Maintenance
- Inspect the courts/tennis facilities on a daily basis, prior to the start of play, and ascertain that all necessary maintenance has been performed.
- Be certain that necessary personnel for the maintenance and upkeep of the courts and tennis facilities/programming, are hired and knowledgeable.
- Make certain that the necessary equipment for the maintenance and upkeep of the courts, and tennis facilities is on hand, and adequately maintained.
- Maintain inventory for all tennis programming supplies, materials and/or equipment; and Pro-shop.
- Keep GM informed on the status of the courts, tennis facilities and equipment; for the purpose of budgeting, replacement and/or repair of items.
- Ascertain that all tennis-related areas are neat and clean at all times.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
C. Tournaments
- Meet with the CEO and GM, for the purpose of formulating and planning the details of TSTC event(s), prior to scheduling or announcing event(s).
- Secure adequate support personnel for related aspects of TSTC tournament/event(s); as approved by GM.
- Meet with GM/Brand Experience Manager to plan campaign, to promote tournament/event(s).
- Coordinate match schedules with GM approval.
- Ensure facility is ready for tournament/event(s).
- Secure draw sheets, score cards and other such items necessary for respective tournament/event(s).
- Prepare and distribute tournament/event information sheets and entry blanks, for participants.
- Coordinate with the GM on the use of other TSTC amenities by participants.
- Be available for rules, decisions and other necessary coordination, throughout the tournament/event(s).
- Prepare post-tournament reports, in writing, including financial report, of the tournament/event(s) for GM and CEO.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
D. Professional Developments
- Maintain member status in USPTA/PTR.
- Require appropriate certifications for tennis department staff (i.e. USPTA, USPTR, USAPA, PSA, USARA, etc.).
- Participate in tournaments, workshops, and continuing education (20 hours per year).
Qualification and Education Requirements
- Certified tennis professional.
- Certified pickleball professional and experience is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in directing/managing a tennis club.
- Passion for tennis.
- Relevant health and safety and first aid training and certification.
- Strong focus and attention to detail.
- Initiative and persistence on completing tasks and responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability in analysis, planning, and coordination.
- On-Call availability.
- Some Weekend and holiday work required.
- Non-Compete requires upon hire
- NDA and Confidentiality Agreement required upon employment.
- Must pass drug screen and background check.
- U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents only.
