Director of Racquets
Country Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts is looking for a Director of Racquets.

Position Overview:
About the Club
Founded in 1875, Myopia Hunt Club is one of the oldest and most historic country clubs in the United States. Myopia is located on the North Shore of Boston in the town of South Hamilton, MA. The club has a strong year-round racquets program that includes tennis (7 Har-Tru courts), platform tennis (4 courts), squash (2 courts) and pickleball. Myopia also has an exceptional 18 hole golf course that has hosted 4 U.S. Open Championships, an equestrian program that includes fox hunting, polo, and premier stables; and a pool facility with snack bar. The main and lower clubhouses offer formal and more casual dining options and various rooms for socializing and events. With a membership of 385 families, Myopia fosters close relationships and a strong sense of community that spans the generations.

Position Overview
Myopia is looking for a Director of Racquets who will continue to grow and enhance our vibrant, year-round program, while maintaining the Club’s traditions, culture, and attention to superior service. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of the racquets experience. This includes developing and directing all instructional, competitive, and social programming across tennis, platform tennis, squash and pickleball, leading a team of full time and seasonal racquets professionals, and overseeing all racquets operations. The selected candidate will possess strong leadership skills, superior interpersonal skills, proven operational skills and sound business acumen.

Leadership
• Provide strong and passionate leadership of the racquets program and be an ambassador for the program with the membership and club staff.
• Create a comprehensive and welcoming environment for all club demographics, with fun activities, tournaments and instructional programs throughout the year, utilizing industry best practices and trends.
• Ensure consistent and efficient daily racquets operations and coordinate with other departments (e.g. Golf, Swimming, House) to provide a high quality, seamless member experience.
• Hire, supervise, lead and mentor all teaching professionals and pro shop staff to ensure peak performance; delegate where appropriate to support career development.
• Work closely with the racquets committee to meet objectives and strive for continuous improvement to drive member satisfaction.
• Represent the Club in the highest standard possible, both at the Club and in the local community.

Programming & Instruction
• Organize, schedule and manage all tournaments, inter-club teams, clinics, round robins, social events and other related activities to maximize member usage and enjoyment of the racquets program.
• Create comprehensive adult and junior instructional programs for players of all levels that are aligned with industry best practices and continue to evolve. Programs should be comprehensive, creative, innovative and fun to promote more play at the Club.
• Create comprehensive events and activities, including social and competitive, for all levels.

Management and Administration
• Communicate to all members on a weekly, if not daily basis, through email, text, phone, etc. Provide timely and consistent follow up to member inquiries.
• Foster member participation to meet program goals.
• Operate a well-equipped retail operation in the pro shop to meet membership’s needs.
• Oversee Point of Sale (POS) and court reservation systems; track all lessons and clinics daily to ensure accurate member billing and staff compensation.
• Oversee routine court maintenance and alert Grounds Superintendent of any safety issues or equipment repairs or upgrades required.
• Participate in the annual budget process and monthly financial performance reviews.

Candidate Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience as a teaching professional in a similar club setting. Experience as a Director, Assistant Director, or Head Professional preferred.
RSPA or PTR certification for tennis and platform tennis. Pickleball and squash certification a plus.
• Successful experience in developing, planning and implementing comprehensive junior and adult instructional programs, tournaments and social events.
• Superior organization and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively in a wide range of situations and to build strong relationships across all club demographics.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to attract, hire, mentor and retain a strong team of professionals.
• Ability to physically teach and play racquet sports for extended periods of time.
• Must have proper authorization to work in the United States.

Compensation
• Compensation includes base salary and incentive pay as well as a strong package of benefits.
