Director of Racquets
Club in Duxbury, Massachusetts is looking for a full-time Director of Racquets.

Position Overview:
The Duxbury Yacht Club is a private club located in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Situated on Boston’s South Shore, Duxbury Yacht Club was founded in 1875 and is one of the oldest yacht clubs in the United States. It is a vibrant, historic, and family oriented club in the seaside community of Duxbury, about halfway between Boston and Cape Cod. In addition to our active golf, pool, and waterfront areas, our Racquets campus includes 9 clay tennis courts, 4 platform tennis courts, and 4 pickleball courts. Under the supervision of our Director of Racquets, we offer year round social and competitive programming for members of all ages.

The Duxbury Yacht Club is seeking a full-time, year round Director of Racquets.
The Director of Racquets is responsible for overseeing and operating all aspects of the tennis, platform tennis, and pickleball programs. This individual works directly with Member Committees to develop social and competitive programming for all ages of our membership. We are seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and caring individual. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing multiple racquet sports for a member club, and extensive knowledge of racquet sports instruction.

Roles and responsibilities of the Director of Racquets include but are not limited to: – As the Ambassador for Duxbury Yacht Club Racquets, provide an outstanding level of racquet service to all members of the club. Create and implement racquet programming that meets the needs of the membership. – Bring a high level of enthusiasm to the overall Duxbury Yacht Club racquets program by creating an inclusive atmosphere where participation in Club events, improvement of skills, active competition and recreational play are all encouraged and are rewarding – At all times, embody, uphold and encourage the ethics of sportsmanship, fair play, good manners, exemplary behavior, and respect for all people, racquet games, equipment and facilities. – Develop, implement and manage high quality programs – instructional and social programs for members of all ages and abilities, including individual and group lessons, clinics, social play and Interclub matches. Includes some evenings and weekends. – Provide excellent, technical teaching skills for all ages and levels of play in tennis, platform tennis, and pickle. – Recruit, hire, develop, retain and manage an exceptional group of Assistant Racquet Professionals. – Provide consistent, professional verbal and written communication to all constituencies, and develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders including Duxbury Yacht Club leadership, member committee chairs, activities leaders, staff and membership. – Ensure that program scheduling, marketing, payroll, monthly billing and other administrative items are completed accurately, consistently and in a timely manner. – Manage the Pro Shop, including Racquet apparel, equipment, and stringing services. – Oversee the maintenance of our Racquet facilities in conjunction with the Member Courts Committee and maintenance staff.

Experience: – High level background in Racquet Sports, preferably with strong collegiate tennis career and a 5.0 playing competency in tennis and pickleball. Experience with APTA Sanctioned Tournaments. – A minimum of 5 years experience and demonstrated ability in the creation and management of high quality racquet programs. – Strong leadership experience, mentoring and managing racquets staff – Demonstrated Experience and knowledge of clay court maintenance

Education and Certification Requirements: – College degree from 4-year accredited university
Tennis: – RSPA (formerly USPTA Elite Professional) or PTR certification in Tennis
Pickleball: – Certified as a PPR, USPTA or IPTPA for pickleball
Platform tennis: – Professional Platform Tennis Registry (PPTR) Certified – Level 3 – Minimum of 3 years as a Platform Tennis instructor – Experience with APTA Sanctioned Tournaments

General: – American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED or Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED – U.S. Center for Safesport – CDC Heads Up Concussion Certificate

Please note that part of the interview process for this position (during final rounds) will involve instructing a live lesson to demonstrate court skills and teaching abilities.
