Head Tennis Professional
Country Club in East Norwalk, Connecticut is looking for a Head Tennis Professional.

Position Overview:
The Country Club is a family-oriented Club that is proud of the culture and service provided to its members and employees. The Club’s future is bright, with the Club in the process of developing a Master Plan for the 8-acre property to ensure relevance to its members.

We are looking for an experienced and committed tennis professional to join our team as a Head Tennis Professional. This role is integral to fostering a vibrant tennis community, delivering exceptional instruction, and enhancing the overall member experience. Summary:
Reports to: Racquets Director
Supervises: Assistant Tennis Professionals

The Head Tennis Professional is responsible for promoting and teaching private and group lessons to juniors and adults on outdoor courts with hard surfaces, as well as ensuring the successful coaching by all assistant tennis professionals. This role includes representing the Club in Pro-Am events, performing racket maintenance such as re-stringing and re-gripping, and ensuring readiness to handle emergency situations effectively.

Job Responsibilities:
• Provides lessons and clinics for members and guests relating to the techniques and strategies of tennis.
• Organizes, administers, and officiates at tournaments, exhibitions, and inter- and intra-club social events.
• Administers and enforces club tennis policies and procedures regarding play on club courts.
• Strings rackets and performs other light equipment repairs.
• Collaborates with the Racquets Director to write and edit content for the club’s weekly tennis newsletter.
• Trains, supervises, schedules, and evaluates the Assistant Tennis Professionals.
• Ensures that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their tennis needs.
• Markets tennis facilities to members and guests.
• Works with Racquets Director to form a calendar with tennis activities and events during the tennis season.
• Maintains accurate records of all lessons and clinics given; provides monthly written reports.
• Inspects and maintains all physical areas constantly.
• Assists Food and Beverage Director, Executive Chef, Banquet and Racquets Director to coordinate food and beverage service support for tennis events.
• Aids in ensuring that all assistant tennis professionals consistently comply with club’s employee handbook and with all applicable federal and state employment laws.
• Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Racquets Director.

What you will need to be successful:
• Undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management preferred.
• Collegiate team experience desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating.
• Two-to-three-year competitive playing experience and/or tennis supervisory experience.
• Experience running junior development programs.
• Certification with either U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) or Professional Tennis Registry
USPTA required P1 rating.
• Player ability equal to NCAA Division 1 level

Physical Demands and Work Environment
• Ability to control natural swing speed during instruction or matches with inexperienced players.
• Sufficient stamina to tolerate hot and humid outdoor weather for several consecutive hours.
• Continuous standing, walking, running, bending, stooping and repetitive actions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent use of light machinery and hand-held tools.
