Club in Beaverton, Oregon is looking for an Adult Tennis Director & Tier 1 Tennis Coach.

About Tier 1
Tier 1 Performance is a player-development program based in the Pacific Northwest, with tennis programs at Woodinville Sports Club in Washington and the Sports Club in Oregon. Its pathway connects introductory tennis, junior development, high-performance training, and full-time academy programs. The development record highlighted by Tier 1 includes 17 USTA Gold Balls and more than 80 college commitments.

Our approach is built around purposeful practice, clear development goals, and coaches who take an active role in helping players improve. We value preparation, accountability, collaboration, and a willingness to keep learning. We want coaches who bring their own playing experience to the court and can turn that experience into instruction players understand and use.

What we are building at the Club
At the Sports Club, we are building a tennis community where juniors and adults have a clear pathway to develop their games. With five indoor courts and Tier 1 programming, the opportunity is to create a connected training environment: strong coaching, thoughtful player placement, consistent programming, and meaningful opportunities to practice and compete.

The adult pathway is an essential part of that vision. We want a new player to feel welcomed and know where to start, a returning player to find a regular group and regain confidence, and an experienced player to find purposeful training and competitive opportunities. This role will help turn that vision into a program people want to return to.

Your role
As Adult Tennis Director & Tier 1 Coach, you will own the adult pathway: its structure, day-to-day delivery, player experience, and growth. You will help shape how adults enter the program, progress between groups, connect with other players, and build tennis into their lives.

You will also have junior coaching hours as part of the Tier 1 team. Your schedule will combine adult-program leadership, hands-on adult and junior coaching, and time for planning and communication. Strong playing ability matters because you will be actively demonstrating, rallying, and helping create quality training sessions.

This is an opportunity for a coach who wants meaningful program responsibility while continuing to develop within a broader player-development environment. We welcome local candidates and candidates from across the country who are willing to relocate to the Portland metro area.

What you will do
Own the adult pathway from player entry and placement through ongoing training, social play, and competitive opportunities; take responsibility for its organization, delivery, and growth.

Work during the day, combining on-court coaching with program planning and player communication.

Coach scheduled junior hours as part of the Tier 1 team, adapting sessions to player level and development goals.

Actively demonstrate, rally, feed, and participate in drills at the level needed for assigned players and groups.

Teach private and group lessons with clear goals, useful feedback, and an engaging approach.

Help adult players find appropriate training groups, regular playing opportunities, and a clear next step in their development.

Coordinate with the coaching team and front desk on scheduling, court use, player placement, and communication.

Track participation, repeat enrollment, player feedback, and program performance; use those results to improve the schedule and experience.

Contribute to a collaborative coaching culture and take responsibility for consistent preparation and follow-through.

What you bring
Strong current playing ability that supports effective demonstrations and active participation in training.

The ability to explain technique and tactics clearly and adapt coaching to different ages, goals, and playing levels.

Initiative and organization: you can take ownership of a program and follow through on the details.

A welcoming, professional manner and the ability to build trust with players and colleagues.

A willingness to learn and work within Tier 1’s coaching approach.

Daytime availability and the ability to work on site at the Sports Club.
Experience organizing adult classes, events, or teams is valuable. Candidates ready to take on their first director role are welcome if they can demonstrate the playing ability, coaching skills, and judgment needed. Collegiate, professional, or comparable competitive playing experience is helpful, but selection will be based on demonstrated ability and relevant experience.

Compensation and schedule
Target total compensation: $100,000. The overall package and compensation structure will be tailored to the selected candidate and may include base pay, teaching income, incentives, and benefits. Details will be discussed during the interview process.

This is an on-site role with daytime work at the Sports Club. The specific schedule and balance of adult-pathway leadership, adult and junior coaching hours, and administrative responsibilities will be discussed with candidates.
