Tennis Director
Tennis Camp in Colchester, Vermont is looking for a Tennis Director.

Position Overview:
Tennis Program Overview: We work with campers of all skill levels, from beginner to advanced. Lessons are mostly on an individual basis, with some group activities or games. Our facilities include five clay courts and a practice back-board. In addition to working on skill development, tennis staff offer lectures on strategy and technique. Camp-wide tennis tournaments are a community favorite and counselors and campers alike are often found playing in their down-time.

Essential Job Functions: Tennis Staff
Help campers set goals and develop tennis skills.
Deliver individual or group tennis lessons, feed balls, run drills, give pointers, and critique form on the court.

Care for tennis facilities, including rolling the clay courts.
Work with campers to clean up after themselves.
Assist with the tennis team, tournaments, and other tennis events.
Mentor junior staff and help with feedback and evaluations.

Community Responsibilities: ​
Most counselors at Brown Ledge are assigned a camper cabin to mentor throughout the summer and must check-in with their camper cabin each night from 9 to 9:30pm. These staff members will also be assigned Grove Duty on a rotational basis. This involves settling down and accounting for all campers at night. The cabin cabin counselor role is a crucial part of your role as a counselor.
Some staff do not have camper cabins (based on gender, age, or job description. This will be decided during the interview process). Non-cabin counselors support the BLC community by partaking in other work in and around camp. This includes supervising and planning evening games and duty on a rotational basis.

In addition to the Tennis Senior Staff responsibilities, the Department Head needs to:

Ensure the department is set up and closed down properly
Review teaching standards with senior tennis staff during Pre-Camp
Schedule (senior staff time-off and JC work hours)
Organize the following with your senior staff members:
Department announcements at meals
Court care and equipment ordering needs
Staff bonding/outings (these are optional!!)
Tennis team
Intermediate tests and or lectures
Reading each week’s basic and intermediate recipients at Ledger
Major Events (i.e. Canoe Derby, Tennis Tournaments)
Making end of session camper/JC awards
Oversee the Junior Counselor program within this department
Oversee the Vanguard program within this department
Create and maintain a constructive and healthy feedback culture within your department
