Director of Pickleball
Club in Jacksonville, Florida is looking for a Director of Pickleball.

Position Overview:
The Director of Pickleball is a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of pickleball programming, operations, and community development within the facility. This individual is tasked with designing dynamic and inclusive programs, driving participation, and cultivating a vibrant and welcoming pickleball culture. The role emphasizes exceptional service, thoughtful program execution, and a high level of engagement for players of all ages and abilities.

The Director of Pickleball will accomplish this by planning and executing junior and adult programs, tournaments, and camps, while meeting operational standards and enhancing the member experience.

Primary Objectives
The Director of Pickleball will achieve these objectives by:

Managing and coaching the development and execution of pickleball programs.
Leading staff recruitment, training, and mentorship to ensure program success.
Overseeing facility operations and fostering a welcoming environment for players of all skill levels.
The Director is also responsible for upholding the organization’s standards and leading by example, ensuring that staff consistently demonstrate punctuality, professionalism, and hospitality.

Job Duties
Key Accountability: Program Development and Management
Duty Statement:

Design, implement, and oversee pickleball programs, including clinics, leagues, social events, and competitive play.
Develop and manage junior programming, including lessons, leagues, and events for all skill levels.
Organize and manage pickleball tournaments and camps to enhance engagement and attract new participants.
Percent of Time: 40%
Key Accountability: Member Engagement and Experience
Duty Statement:

Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive pickleball community that encourages participation across all ages and skill levels.
Provide exceptional customer service and respond to member inquiries, feedback, and concerns.
Percent of Time: 20%
Key Accountability: Staff Leadership and Development
Duty Statement:

Recruit, train, and mentor pickleball staff, including instructors and event coordinators.
Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing professional development.
Percent of Time: 15%
Key Accountability: Facility Operations
Duty Statement:

Ensure that pickleball facilities are well-maintained, safe, and visually appealing.
Manage court scheduling, reservations, and equipment needs.
Percent of Time: 15%
Key Accountability: Marketing and Promotion
Duty Statement:

Collaborate with the marketing team to promote pickleball programs, tournaments, and events across multiple platforms.
Develop strategies to attract new members and retain current participants.
Percent of Time: 5%
Key Accountability: Financial Management
Duty Statement:

Assist with budget preparation and financial oversight for pickleball programming.
Monitor revenue and expenses to meet financial goals and maintain program sustainability.
Percent of Time: 5%
Qualifications & Skills
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of pickleball rules, strategies, and program design
Excellent sales, communication, and rapport-building skills
Experience in coaching or leading group activities and building a sense of community
Familiarity with tools like Club Essentials, PlaySight, and Court Reserve
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
Demonstrates a positive, enthusiastic, and member-focused attitude
Professional and responsive when interacting with members, guests, and staff
DUPR rating above 4.5 preferred
Certifications (One or more of the following required or preferred)
RSPA Pickleball
PTR
PPR
RPO
ITPA
Current CPR
Experience
Proven experience managing pickleball programs, including junior and adult leagues, events, and camps
Preferred: Management experience in the retail or hospitality industry (leading 3–10 employees)
Preferred: Consultative sales experience
Demonstrated success building inclusive and engaged pickleball communities
Existing connections to local, regional, or national pickleball networks
Experience hiring, mentoring, and managing a diverse team of staff
Budget management experience for programming, staffing, and operations
Capable of resolving conflicts professionally, including member concerns and staff issues
Physical Requirements
Ability to work within the club environment, including walking through courts, offices, and event areas
Regularly demonstrate and explain pickleball techniques and physical activity
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
